It's especially slow when I post a reply. It just sits there and thinks about it for 10 seconds or so.
Maybe it's an "olds" filter?

Guess I'll clear cache, etc...

Upgrade to Firefox 4 beta 6 or even the nightly 7pre, enable hardware acceleration. As long as you're running Win7 with a decent GPU, it will fly.

Oh yeah, don't forget to install Adblock Plus. Those slow IBM ads really slow down things.

I've been trying to post a reply to the WoW thread for about 5 minutes now, page still not completing that I can see.

i think its sad that ads are so slow and cumbersome compared to the rest of the webpage that you actually have to seek out options to disable the ads. i dont really like blocking ads, i want the internet to stay as cheap as possible... but they shoot themselves in the foot when they design ads that completely annoy and piss you off.

If you think ads slow you down you should see the difference with noscript!

opening large threads takes minutes. the WoW thread and the Nef thread and great examples of this

hell just opening the PC Gaming forum takes like 30 seconds

Tested in both Opera & FF - both running the latest release versions

Horribly slow for me as well. Like the Anandtech engine is only running on half (or less) of its cylinders.
