So I went to update my signature today and realized that it's too long. Lets take a Poll Keep signature as is (LONG) or simplify and update it

Get rid of the ICQ logo because it looks old, gay and beyond geeky.

There was a whole month where there was a sticky wasn't there? If you want a long sig, just create a webpage and link it.

signatures are retarded. i haven't seen them in like over 6 years here. i don't give a shit about your computers, what you have for sale, or what you think was a witty quote you deemed 'sig worthy'.

I like the shorter signatures. I stopped putting my rig in there a few years back because it seemed to serve no purpose. If I start a thread asking some kind of technical question and refer people to my sig for my system specs, that's fine for that thread. What if someone else with the same problem comes along later after I've changed my computer and sig and makes the wrong assumptions about what I'm asking the question about? I'm not much interested in bragging about it either.

I try to stick to a quote I like and maybe a reference to something else that amuses me.

Large icons and signatures are dumb.

I hate going to another forum that allows both.
I do not want to see your stupid car in a huge banner under every one of your posts.

ATOT is special because it keeps it simple and classy.

Just make sure the RAM timings are clearly stated, everything else can go.

The times when I have found interesting content in a member's signature have been painfully few and far between. The content of my sig is simply there to amuse me.

And now you are a part of the evil that is signatures.

no one cares about your shitty computer spec

I hate when computer specs are taking up vertical screen space on my monitor. And it's usually all about the e-peen anyway. "ZOMG I HAVE 10 VIDEO CARDS IN MY COMPUTER THAT IS THE SIZE OF A HOUSE"

First of all, I think dedicating a line to tell us that it's a computer on a tech forum is beyond dumb. We know it's a computer. I'm not a fan of having your specs in every post anyway. Most people here have multiple computers so we can't even assume that it's the one you are talking about in general posts.

Second, if your link weren't broken, you could make the words "Computer/Heatware" link to the appropriate URLs instead of making other lines. Not sure why they are under the same heading anyway.

Third, you are missing a colon after "HD."

Fourth, if you feel that you must share your specs with every post, there is no reason that each component needs its own line.

Try something like this:
Gigabyte X58-UD5 w/Intel i7-930@3.99GHz OC (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme), XGB G Skill PC3 10700 6-6-6-23 (667MHZ) RAM, EVGA GTX 690 + GTX460 GPUs, & 5x1.5TB Seagate HDDs powered by a Corsair HX750 & all in a Lian Li modded w/10+ fans & dual Samsung 2333T LCDs.

Pics / Heat

What good does your old system specs do for us anyway? Here's a hint: Ditch it and make your current specs look more like your "Retired" system specs:

that sig is ghastly.

people with sigs are sick puppies, anyway. I would never trust them.
