computer specs in your sig are so last century
We should put other appliance specs in our sigs.

Sigs are like bumper stickers - a worthless waste of space.
Nobody cares if you voted for Romney, and nobody cares what your "rig" is.
Glad they can be disabled.

I never understood the point of putting your system specs in your signature.

if I'm posting in a tech thread and it's relevant to the discussion, I'll list them out, but mostly... who cares what model your PSU is?

This is a tech forum. I like seeing at a glance what hardware members have, particularly when they ask a question to solve a problem. If you don't like signatures, turn them off.

Signatures should be short. If you want to make an entire profile for yourself, just link to another page or website. It's not necessary to have your "rig" (let's be honest: most of us have several, anyway), pages of quotes, or your entire life story in a sig, not when hyperlinking is allowed.

Otherwise it just takes up space on the page, and a lot of people would rather not block signatures.
