Why do so many people think that Forrest Gump was a great movie?

It had its moments, but for the most part I came away with the feeling that it was just a 'cute' movie. I dunno, I found the movie ok, but definately not something I would bother watching again. I did like Tom Hanks' acting though. (Just saw the movie for the first time tonight on TNT)
 
Really.. you thought it had its moments .. I thought it totally sucked, the only bright spot for me was the hyped chocolate scene. This movie showed how corrupt the sensiblities of the theater going public are. Basically, you can foist anything on them with enough P.R. ---that said, i think there will be a FOREST GUMP II

There will never be a sequel to this awesome movie.
 
Anyway, like I was sayin', nef is the fruit of the ATOT. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, nef-kabobs, nef creole, nef gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple nef, lemon nef, coconut nef, pepper nef, nef soup, nef stew, nef salad, nef and potatoes, nef burger, nef sandwich. That- that's about it.

He probably could have nailed Jenny at a young age since she later turned out to be a complete wh0r3. But he was too dumb to realize it and went to Vietnam first. Horrible movie, but I thought Gary Sinise did a decent job.

the first time i saw that movie i didn't like it much coz i saw bits and pieaces. after watching the whole thing at once i thought it was great (and i usually dont like tom hanks)

Amazing movie for sure. It takes you back in time with all those songs. The soundtrack is totally superb as well.
