The Mercedes tire test certainly is interesting. They can't keep the tires on the car, get invited to a special test where they get to run 1,000km for Pirelli and suddenly they are completely fine with tire wear. It will be interesting to see what the FIA does if anything. Easiest solution to me is to allow the other teams a 1,000km test of their choice rather than penalizing Mercedes.

All the red flags caused me to miss the end of the race, DVR ran out of recording time.

Well, they were strong last year at Monaco too. This track isn't severe on tires having low speed corners and very few traction depended zones. That is why even Caterhams and Williams were in the same pack and setting times closer to the leaders.
 
Every time I get back into F1, the FIA does something this stupid.
"Hey, Pirelli wants us to do a test. "
" Sure. Go ahead. "
" We suck. We can't make decisions, we might penalize you because we are a bunch of old leathery hags that know nothing about racing. "

Fuck you, FIA.

I'm not even a fan of anyone in particular. I just want good racing with sensible rules.

F1 is returning this weekend after what it seems like an eternity.

The tire testing saga is still going on and no one can predict what the final verdict is going to be.

Bottas is the surprise of this quali, but tomorrow is predicted to be dry so I guess we will see some action during the first half.

mercedes have been found guilty and are to miss a Young Drivers Test - exactly the punishment they requested.

don't be too angry with merc, however. it's the fia that have been caught with its head up its ass again.
 
Webber will leave F1 at the end of the season to drive Porsche's LMP1 entry (with Dumas/Bernhard and an RB test/sim driver). I wonder if Prosche has lined up RB as a sponsor for their LM-entry. Although it wouldn't be their style, and LM is somewhat less sponsor heavy (and more works focused in LMP1) than most other motorsports, fetching two RB drivers, and the lack of RB involvement in LM could mean something.

Anyway, I think it's high time that Webber left. He was the experienced driver RB needed when they turned around Jaguar into a winning team, but they probably want someone a tad faster, now that Vettel has enough experience to be trusted as a development driver.

The real question is whether RB will go looking for a number 2 driver, or someone that will race Vettel, like Webber did when things were going well for him. Essentially - will they promote someone from STR, or get someone like Raikonnen. I suppose they don't know themselves yet...

I think your thinking of Coulthard. Webber was needed because they wanted a stable points scorer as they sought out new young talent like Vettel.

Well, I think when DC was replaced by Vettel, Webber took over that role.
Also, Webber said, he will retain his ties with RB, after leaving the F1 Team.

More hints at a possible RedBull-Porsche Team Manthey for 2k14 at LM?
 
I am not sure who will replace Webber.. my guess is between Vergne, Ricciardo and Kimi.

It is also interesting to note that RB sponsored Kimi while he was racing in WRC.
