Well, that was a fun quali session.
I did expect the Force India to stay in front, until it became clear how much the track had dried out
Also, great drive by van der Garde. Making his way to become Rookie of the year, and may well find himself in a faster car next year.

IMO, Bianchi is a better rookie than VDG.

A crazy qualifying session, but not unusual for spa. DIR should have set time until the end of the session, but p5 is a good place to start.

Well, I guess P5 didn't work out for him so well.

Vettel did another Mr. Perfect.
Shame for Raikkonen with the brakes giving up, but I guess Lotus should have pitted him a tad earlier.

Fun seeing the two Force Indias battle agains Maldonado and Gutierrez, too bad it ended in tears.

For a dry race, it was reasonably eventful. Except at the front. 16 seconds in such a relatively tight field is quite something.

with nearly 2 entire victories in his pocket, vettel has 4 championships in a row. yay.

It's certainly going to take some really bad luck or reliability issues for it not to happen. Next year should be a bit more entertaining with all the blown motors and cars running out of fuel.

Decent race. Kind of boring. Great job for Alonso. It shows his huge skill.

Because I am a Vettel fan I am glad he was on form. Good start, grabbed the lead, and kept it. Loved to see his excitement when he saw he maintained fastest lap of the GP.

I wish Ricciardio well at Red Bull, but it still makes me wonder how much Vettel had a say in the decision. I'd say Webber was still a stronger teammate than Ricciardo will end up being next year.

Now the question is what Kimi will be doing next year? Still a chance with Ferrari? Maybe, but I just can't see it.

I think Webber just got tired of it all and decided Porsche's LMP1 program would be better for him now. All the rumors I've seen are that Kimi's got a 2+1 year contract at Ferrari.

Webber really lost out to Vettel over the last three seasons. Back in 2010 he was still able to challenge, but Vettel has definitely gained an upper hand. And I can't yet judge Ricciardo, on how well he will do. But it seems he has what it takes to outperform JEV, which is a bit of a key competence. Unless I actually see him racing the same car that Vettel races, I will withhold further judgement.

This does make RB a very young duo of drivers though.

I doubt that Vettel had any say in the decision, as for RB the constructor's trophy is what counts first and foremost. With that in mind I doubt they let one driver interfere with the choice of the other.

Not at all surprising. Having two #1's in the house would have been disastrous. Riccardo will be a good #2 ala Massa or Barachello. But if he turns out to be a Perez it could be interesting.

I'd be shocked if Kimi did anything but stayed at Lotus. Alonso and Kimi on the same team, now that will produce some story lines.

I'm glad they brought on a strong "rookie" driver, that frees up a great spot at Torro Rosso for another great talent from the feeder series.

I think Riccardo will do fantastic at Red Bull. I'm really excited to see what someone still in the early stages of a F1 career can do with Vettel's help and that team behind them. It also gives Red Bull someone they can use for new tactics next year. I doubt Webber would have agreed to try a completely different strategy just to help out his #1 team mate where as I see Riccardo being willing to do it. It will be a tactical advantage they can utilize like Ferrari used Massa last season (toes at Italy and that gearbox penalty at Brazil).

I think Kimi won't bother moving this year. Anyone could be successful next year. If he decides to move it will be in 2015 to a team that does well in 2014.

Apparently Kimi is afraid of the technical partnership Lotus has with Renault and the new engines. He thinks that they won't be able to utilize the engine as well as RBR and thus won't be a contender. He may be aloof and hate the press/media, but he's not stupid.

Alonso is fed up with Ferrari and looks like they are fed up of him too.

Happy for Ricciardo to get a RB drive although I am pretty sure it was a tough decision to make.

After today's bad quali, Kimi says this track doesn't suit the car and they'll be strong from now on.

Hulkenburg was a pleasant surprise and Hamilton was in tears in the post quali interview.. looks like he just saw the title hunt just vanish away.

God I hate seeing Vettel at the top of the time sheets yet again...

I'm not a Vettel fan either.

Hamilton, at least he keeps it real with comments. He was super harsh of himself, but this just tell me he expects A LOT from himself. It's good to see a driver not give rubbish answers or generic answers for once.

I agree. My top three F1 drivers are Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen. I would enjoy seeing either of those three win another F1 Championship. Sadly, I think another Vettel WDC is a lock at this point.

VETTEL!

Also, good drive by Hulkenberg. I'm excited for what Alonso will do and to see Hamilton fight his way from the midfield.

I'm a Vettel fan so I'm alright with him on pole. But it's going to be another boring race at the front unless Alonso pulls of yet another miraculous run, he's done more with that car than it deserves. That said, it's hurting the sport. Same way NASCAR was getting hurt with Johnson dominating for five years. They need some more competition and I think we'll get that next year with the new regs. I would have loved to seen Alonso go to Red Bull. The most talented driver in the best car would have been a sight to see.

Kimi needs a better car and Ferrari needs a better driver, this needs to happen. They seem to be fed up with Alonso and don't care if they piss him off by adding real competition. I wouldn't be surprised if they were hoping RB would take them. I bet one big hold up, if there was a convo to begin with, are his pay demands. RB isn't paying 30mil to anyone.
