F1 is my favorite type of racing.

Schumacher is amazing. Many complain hes too good, and make it boring, but you have to realize, hes already a legend. We are priviledged to see the best F1 driver still race. I highly doubt anyone could top him in my lifetime, he holds too many records. Not many appreciate him now, but I know I do.

Raikkinon(sp) is pretty good, but has a really bad car this season, I hope to see him rebound soon, hes World Champion material. Alonso was the surprise driver of the year, I knew he was good, but I didn't expect him to be #3 in points and keeping up with Schumacher last race. Biggest surprise for teams was Honda and Renault, which are ranked 2 and 3 in the constructors championship. Button has done a great job with Honda, as Alonso has done a great job with Renault. Along with Kimi, if on the right car, I could see either of those guys being a World Champion after the Schumacher Legacy passes.

It's the leading edge in engineering, but don't they neuter the cars in various ways to keep speeds down? If they do I think it would be cool if they just made absolutely the fastest cars they possibly could with no constraints. I think that, for example, they put some grooves in the slicks in a manner designed to lower grip (in an effort to keep speeds "reasonable").

thats why its the bleeding edge, they neuter cars and the engineers simply engineer round it.....engineers are problem solvers, the FIA put a problme in their way and they get round i, usually ending up better, theyve narrowed cars, added groves to tires, limited to 3litres, the can chop one end but the engineers more than make up for it in another area.....F1 still gets faster every year, infact last years qualifying laps are being beaten during the race

I want to see the Stig win some races.
He is sort of like the Mysterious Racer X (Speed Racers Brother)

I've been watching since the mid to early 90s, and in my opinion it's just been a steady decline in quality since then. And by quality, I mean how the entire organization is run right up to the competition.
It's only going to get better once these new rules kick in, in a couple years.

Now, if you guys want to watch REAL racing, you'll hop on the MotoGP bandwagon where the rest of have been all our lives. Rossi is good, but his competition is so much better in comparison to Schumacher's, that at least it's entertaining. Very entertaining in fact.

yeah early 90's was good, although i was bit too young to really know what it was all about, i wish i was abit older so i could of seen those turbo charged racers from the 80's i mean for qualifying they would whack max boost and have 1500+ HP, which is jus colossal!

if only senna was still alive...........schumacher probably wouldnt of won all those championships!

i reckon senna would see off schumacher anyday, he was born with the skill to drive, schumacher is very good no doubt but he just doesnt have that x factor senna had, ive seen old races and senna was exciting to watch, schumacher is fast, but no where near as exciting

F1 needs a few more risk takers, even tho driving insanley fast in a car where ur ar$e is mm from the floor is already a big risk

I think Schumacher could take Senna. Sure Senna was the more fun to watch, but Schumacher's machine like ability to pull fast lap after fast lap would win out.

I love Speed channel. They show F1 decade and cover practice, qualifying, and the race.

That last French Grand Prix was fairly exciting. Schumacher taking 4 pitstops and winning and then the battle for 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Barrichelo's pass at the end was awesome.

id rather see schumacher carve his way through the field like a machine....ok he mite win but he'd make good viewing doing it, barrichelo has had a string of good races....france coming from a poor qualy and pretty much the only overtaking moves of the race

Remove their wings, that'll slow them down, and make things interesting.

Champ car is doing some interesting things to keep the series alive.

Push to pass - 50 extra HP for 60 seconds
Alternate tires - 1 set of tires that's about 2-3 seconds faster, w/o a sacrafice in wear.

Schumacher's amazing record is result of Barrichello being neutered.

Witness the USGP at Indy a few weeks back (I attended). Reubens was clearly faster, was blocked by Schumacher on a pass attempt after a pit stop, then (presumably) got the call from Jean Todt not to rock the boat. If Barrichello were allowed to race, Schumacher may not hold the records he does.

u got it there man, i have to agree...... it seems barrichelo always gets the 2nd hand parts in that team, he is a very exciting guy to watch, seems focus in on MS all the time, and rubino is jus there to fill the number 2 car, ferraris team tactics are very iffy if u ask me, i mean who saw that fixed finish at the austrian GP a while back when one ferrari slowed on the last corner to let the other (schumacher) through to win utter ballz

I suppose you heard this 'so-called not to rock the boat' call from Jean Todt over the radio... :D

You cant deny the team orders behind the team... but to say the Michael would not be where he is now if Rubens were allowed to race him is crap.

I guess everyone only remembers this year and forgets about how crappy the Ferraris were when Michael got on board... I suppose his days at Benetton were also flukes eh?

Im sick of this crap how Michael this Michael that... the man is a great driver even before he went to Ferrari... but I guess him just dominating the way he is now just makes people hate him more. Go figure.

Barrichello is hit or miss.

I believe hes a great driver, and definatly World Champion material, but his teammate is the one they're focusing on.

Barrichello is not as good as Shucmacher, sometimes hes fast, sometimes hes slow, hes hit or miss. Michael OTOH is consistantly faster than everyone on the field. Look at the last race, Barrichello did a great job catching up from a crappy qualifying, but Michael still held the fastest lap and beat everybody by a large margin.

Barrichello is also as fast as he is because he has the best car.

I do agree with you Barrichello is "held back" in support for Michael, but I do not believe its as large of a margin as you make it seem.

Oh and BTW... "I love Formula One but I hate NASCAR" is a bandwagon answer here... no problem if you actually watch the races and you're an F1 fan... but some people here say F1 is better and they havent seen one race in their life... yeah ok.

he is a great driver....the best of our time probably.....but he has always had the best car, ok he moved to ferrari in 96....was that because he wanted a challenge or because he knew something everyone else didnt?
ferrari do have a pretty sweet set up tho.... all in house engine, chassis, electronics the lot, nice when u got the biggest budget in the paddock

I prefer NASCAR, actually. I rarely watch either, but it seems NASCAR makes competition more visible. The big ovals are as close as you can come to having an infinite straightaway, so you see much more passing, denser packs, etc. than you do on the curvy circuits (you have a few of them in NASCAR, too, I know).

Anywho, F1 cars definatly look cooler. And they can drive on an upside down surface if they are running fast enough (they do, or did, have hollow spaces beneath them that functioned like a spoiler, only stronger, strong enough that the downforce produced is much greater than the weight of the car over a certain speed. Now that is cool.)
