Anyway, could someone elaborate on Schumi running people off the road? I heard he did it to Villenvue but I can't beleive it. If he really did, I don't see how he is still considered as the best driver in teh world. No matter how good his skills are, he can't be respected as a driver and competitor if he runs people off the road.

That's unsportsman-like.

Regarding Barichello, he grew a pair and has stated that he WILL fight for first now. He pulled an awesome pass on Trulli in the French GP. And he was pissed that he missed first in Montreal and Indy. He will fight Schumi now.

And lets not forget about Zsolt. The man got a point in a Minardi. That itself deserves recognition. And we shall forget about the fact that he was last. :p

He's on the VWVortex. At first I thought it was someone else playing a prank but then he autographed a pic addressing it to VW owners and posted it on the Tex. So I somewhat believe its him. He's hilarious on the board. Pic of his autographed pic to the VWVortex

btw, the move to h-gates will make the racing MUCH more interesting. I think Nigel Mansell said it best recently, there needs to be more control given to the driver. That will make the race much more interesting. I think launch controll is fine, but putting in an H-gate with a clutch will make it that much more harder on the drivers. On the other hand that will seperate the men from the boys and might increase Schumi's lead even more.

Any changes they make will benefit Ferrari. One engine rule? Well that benefits Ferrari the most cause they are the most reliable. Nigel Mansell stated a few days ago that he doesn't watch F1 anymore cause its boring to him. And he's a previous WDC of F1!!

Yeah, that's kind of comical actually. Mansell got his championship when they had the most driver aids of all. Traction, automatic transmissions, ABS, active suspension. They've since outlawed ABS and active suspension.

Once Coulthard and Mclaren started losing races I stopped watching religiously. I still occasionally catch a race though.

Well obviously they went for a system that shifts faster... :p

They will be going back to h-gates as soon as 2006 if the regulation changes get the green.

I'll stop watching.

You will be in the minority because basically every fickle fan out there is asking for changes... they will be going back to V8s... h-gates... no traction control... blah blah blah... as much as I think it would put the driver back in control i think F1 would no longer be the technological pinnacle of motorsports if the changes go through.

i say bring back V12s... :D like they had in the 90s...

Like I said, I'll stop watching. I watch for the tech - not the racing. And if you've ever been to a race in person - then you understand. Those things make a noise that's unbelievable.

If I want to watch racing there's other series which offers better.

Well the V10s scream... but I still prefer the V12 Ferraris of the 90s... :D

As for the V8s... i'm sure they'll figure out a way to ramp up the RPMs again... give it a couple of years and they'll probably be back to how fast they're going now.

BMW is against the rule changes and has threatened to pull out if it goes through... what sucks is... Toyota and Ferrari already had a V12 on the bench before they got banned...

You cant compare the two... motorcycles dont rely heavily on aerodynamics... and if you notice... they race on the same tracks cars do... which means the track is a lot wider for them providing more space for overtaking.

I agree that motorcycle racine is more exciting...why can't we compare it? Anyway - back on topic - I do like to watch F1...can't stand NASCAR.

Speaking of motorcycle, Rossi doesn't look like a world class racer. He looks like a hobbit from Lord of the Rings.

But damn is he good. Did you watch one of his recent races where he overtook someone at the last lap or something. It was unbelievable. That hobbit has some large cojones.

I love F1(though I agree Rally is much better) and I have nothing against Shumacher(sp--too lazy to check other posts for proper spelling :D) , but I think he should move to another Team already. Being Canadian, when Villneuve won the Championship things were looking up, then he got moved, chose to, or something(don't recall what happened exactly) to another Team and couldn't even come close to winning again. :( Ferrari is clearly the Team leader for quite some time now, it would be more interesting, IMO, if Shumacker was on a fringe Team and would help establish whether he truly is a great driver or not. As it stands now he may be the best or he could be just as good as everyone else but with a superior car.

The thing I diss about MS is that if he is really THAT good, why does he need to be the #1 driver on the team? Instead of arbitrarily having that in the contract clause, let the drivers fight for it. if MS is good enough, eventually he will emerge as #1 driver, until then, there is no true telling how good MS is. And yes, he is good..but how good? I don't know.

He is too old to start over again... he already did it when he moved to Ferrari and he ended their 21 year championship drought. He is expected to end his career with Ferrari. JV left Williams for BAR and spent years with that crappy team... the minute he gets booted off all of a sudden the car is a top 3 contender... sucks huh? I would love to see him back in a Williams...

His father on the other hand is my hero. :)

Because its apples and oranges... like I said... you strip cars of their aerodynamics... put big fat tires... just like they had in 1967... and guess what? you see drivers sliding all over the place... and racing is much more exciting.

I am not saying that motorcycles arent exciting... i have been a Rossi fan since his Aprilia 125ccs... but people are comparing two things when it just doesnt make sense... its like comparing Soccer to Football.

Um what team again?

Because Ferrari swings on his nuts for bringing them the championship. He built that team... and as expected the team rallies behind him. What people dont see is what goes on behind the doors. After the Canadian GP when everyone has left and only teams are left to pack up all night... Michael shows up and makes sure he gets a talk with each of them thanking them for the work they did that day. Senna did the same thing... and McLaren treated him like Ferrari treats Schumacher.

I agree. I do think racing is "cool" but unless you are driving or watching the race in perosn, it just isn't that great. I like MotoGP and Rally a bit more than F1 I think.

Well, my response to that is if I were MS, I would tell Ferrari that I am man enough to fight against teammate for #1 spot on the team. I am 99.9% sure MS is better than Barrichello..but that .1% can never be dismissed until he allows internal competition within the team.

Yeah... the man doesnt need team orders... but i guess that why a lot of people hate him... i doubt he is actually the one asking for the team orders... since Jean Todt is basically in love with the guy...

I too think he would be held in much higher regard if it wasnt for this team orders controversy...

People who say that F1 should go back to v12's and slicks are out of there mind.
Taking of the wings is even more stupid.

Cars should be made slower. Go back to 2.0l v10's or v8's.
Drivers are already at their limits. Just look at Ralf's accident at the USGP. Take away grip or make the cars even faster and it won't be long before someone in action. Just like in 1994. No deadly accident in 12 years, then 2 in one weekend.

I don't want to see someone die for my entertainment.

its the budgets that need trimming i think.........its all very well limiting their tires and wings....but with enoughmoney the engineers can work round that. i like stock car racing becuase it seems anyone can do it really, a chassis and big v8 and your away almost. and in nascar dot they use the same car for alot of races? where as in F1 they used to rebuild the engine after each session and they still have brand new engines and parts each race? i would like to see budgets cut because the top teams are too rich and the bottom teams too poor, i mean minardi would certainly be in with a shout.....they must be masters at budgeting by now
