So i figured it would be fun to see since there are a good number of military people here, what you thought was the best MOS (army) or whatever you call it (navy, marines, air force, coast guard). Plus, why do you feel it is he best.

Here's mine.

37F (used to be 96F) Psyop Analyst

What could be more fun then fucking with people? You get to play with loudspeakers, print equipment, radio station equipment, and when you are in the field, you are the smallest unit in the US Army, comprised of 3 soldiers as a psyop team.
You learn how to make propaganda, how to determine how and where it will fall if you drop it from a plane (math, hurray!) and did i mention you get to fuck with people.
Nothing more fun then sitting in the field and pumping animal and livestock noises through a loudspeaker system.
and most psyop teams are made up of people who started off 11b,h,m which i guess are all the same now.

it was the most fun i had, and as a 37f/96f you get to do a lot you probably wouldn't get to do unless you find a job in an airborne combat advertising firm somewhere in south america.

What happens when you guys screw up? Does the target audience get offended at the U.S.?

I remember when the 18th Airborne Corps threw leaflets around with a simple message, and then they used the XVIII dragon logo as a watermark. They just had to include that, didn't they. I mean, it was fvcking imperative that they know that someone who likes dragons was offering them safety upon surrender. The targeted audience that can't read their own language look very carefully at the pictures. Fvcking psyops.

I am not military but I always thought boommaster was the best MOS. First, the name. Second, I think you're the only enlisted in the Air Force to get a flight suit--instapoon. Third, sweet view. Fourth, I think they are some of the most well traveled.

biggest thing is getting the message approved. a lot goes into making a pamphlet, leaflet or flyer. i've never seen any go bad personally, but i am sure some have pissed off people.
The guidelines on white propaganda use are very strict.

as far as broadcasts, music, noise, and such, we piss off a lot of people, but they seem to fail to realize that our form of combat is the best. a bloodless battlefield is the way to go.

I have no idea but my AFSC was 43153, I think. No idea if that was good or bad.

lol how wrong you are... There are quite a few enlisted AFSC (MOS) that get to wear a flight suit. They dont travel that much, granted you fly a lot but you're mostly flying back to the same base you took off from (minus the treadmill of course :D). The view aint that great when you're that high up and when you're flying over the desert for hours on end doing circles seeing the same flat land below you, not that exciting.

You want exciting with a flight suit, try Aerial Gunner. Pretty much you're strapped to a helo with a gattling gun f'ing bitches up when they wanna play :) Or you could go loadmaster, basically they're in charge of the cargo on the plane and makes sure it gets loaded and secured correctly. Lots of traveling with them especially if you get assigned to a Spec Ops unit, you just couldnt talk about it ;)

After being a helo mechanic for a number of years, my buddy just cross trained and become a loadmaster. He f'ing loves it. Some of his flight videos he's got on his YouTube are pretty fun.

09S. Actually, the 09S MOS kind of sucks since you get treated about like you're in Basic Training. But when you're done you get a real MOS as a platoon leader in whatever Army Branch you want.

don't worry, if you make it and become an officer, you'll be treated like shit, too.

never met an officer in the army that couldn't be replaced by a temp agency.

i remember during the force reductions before we went to the gulf and before that was an issue, where the army spent it's time dumping butterbars and captains in dead end jobs. most the ones i knew weren't even given the option of going ar/ng. just out.

if you decide to go combat arms, please know your job. :)

Yeah the force reductions of the 90s were rough from what I understand. Promotions are automatic all the way to LTC these days though. Speaking honestly, I'm one of the good ones here. There are a lot of guys about to be commissioned as 2LTs that are: stupid, apathetic, power hungry or just doing it for the money (enlisted moving to officer side.) I was having a conversation earlier with a fellow OC about how badly some of these guys are going to reflect on the entire officer corps in just a few weeks.

I'm trying to decide between ADA and FA right now.

EDIT: And about the "if you make it". Everyone makes it. Everyone. If you fail tests on leadership, or land navigation or anything, you just retest and retest until you make it. The only way you don't make it is if you're seriously injured. Then you go into holding until you're ready to try again.

What they need is field grade officers. So they've made promotions automatic to speed that along. But they're also cannibalizing the senior NCO ranks. There are tons of E7s, and a few E8s in my OCS class. Their COCs pushed them hard to come to OCS. Then yesterday it was announced that any E8s were eligible for direct commission to O3, and E9s are eligible for direct commission to O4. Which begs the question, who's going to do all the real work in the Army when there are 50,000 field grade officers and no Sergeant Majors?

I'm a medic 68W5P 2S. Even I'd go FA over ADA. There's some cutting edge stuff in Artillery. Gravity ain't going away and GPS will be around for awhile, too. I forsee counter-battery artillery getting even better.

That's Sergeants Major, Sir.

I'm just a lowly OC, not a sir yet. :) I'm like a private with a fancy scarf.

And thanks for the correction, I didn't realize that's how you pluralized Sergeant Major. Much appreciated.
