Form Check

The only thing I really notice is depth. I'm not saying that you need to go ass-to-grass, but the line from your hips to your knee should at least get parallel to the floor. You're almost there. Maybe widen your stance a bit, and remember to shove your knees out.

two things jump out at me... why do you take the barebell for a stroll? you walk it all the way out of the rack for just to film? use the rack.

depth. You come down very controlled, yet stop short.... it might be a flexibility thing as I believe you are kind of still a beginner. get the depth from the start and you will be much better off in the long run.

good luck

Yes, just for the video. There is to much stuff on either side to get a good shot.
Flexibility- have a fusion in lower back so working slowly on get a better range of motion. My range of motion is way better post surgery than it was before.

Depth-another reason for video. I usually am at the gym alone so I dont have a set of eyes that can give me tips. Now that I now I need to go just a bit deeper I will give it a try next time.

I would suggest throwing out the belt for this weight (and anything up to twice that amount). If you absolutely cannot pull it off without a belt, don't squat and focus on strenghtening the core.

Also, I wouldn't start a squat by bending in the knees but rather by sort of sticking your butt "out".

Throw up some videos of just the bar or only 10kgs on each side. I want to see how deep you can go without the weight being an issue.

I'd get rid of the belt as well. Does it hurt to squat without a belt due to the back fusion?

It doesnt hurt. I think its more a mental thing really. I know that with good form your spine is safe or at least should be but I just dont want to mess up my fusion. I have been lifting for almost three years now and just started squats and deadlifts because of that fear.

Your first rep was fine. But you slightly got progressively higher. I wouldn't change anything, except have someone help you out with depth by talking to you during your sets. The belt is fine.

First things first. Gloves...when squatting.

Now with the jokes out of the way, your hip joint should reach or go below the top of your knee. I think you would greatly benefit from a shoe with an elevated heel like the Reebok crossfit OLY shoe, or on a budget, the rogue do-win.

That will allow you to get better depth more easily and stabilize your foot instead of being on that mattress.

Small adjustment but looks good.

if you like the belt, keep the belt. i prefer a belt for squat/DL/OHP when i get over about 75% of my 1rm. I actually feel stronger with it. I warm up without it though.
