Forgetting Sarah Marshall

I'll be waiting for it to come to cable. I found the trailer to be mildly amusing, but it just screams chick flick. For that reason, I think this thread is headed for failure.

"it just screams chick flick"

It isn't a chick flick. It was a hilarious movie. If you like crude humor as found in superbad then the movie is for you.....

it was good, but had excessive dick shots

FFS. I was sitting there and all of a sudden... PENIS! Three times during the movie! As for anyone going to see it, it's twice in the beginning (apartment scene) and once when he's in a dressing room at the end.

I thought the movie was a lot better than The Forbidden Kingdom which I also saw on Friday.

disappointing. OTOH Apatow neither wrote nor directed this. He has producer credits on like a dozen films over the past 2 years, basically getting $ for having his name attached ot the projects. I don't consider those "his" films.

ps. yeah, Kunis looked very fetching

Saw it Saturday night. In essence, this is the movie:

1. Lots of crude sex jokes (I'm sure you saw the pearl necklace bit in the preview - more like that)
2. 2 hot chicks (Kristen Bell & Mila Kunis - I thought Kunis was hotter)
3. A great performance by Russell Brand as the douchebag rocker guy
4. Fairly funny bit parts for Paul Rudd & Jonah Hill, and a couple of locals (?)
5. Dick shots (yuck)
6. All of Jason Segel's weirdness on display

I thought Segel was just another goofball stoner and he'd be cool. No. He wrote this thing, and the dude is weird - Muppet Dracula Rock Opera?? WTF? Not at all funny. Just weird. And he whines the whole way through the movie (gets old fast), and oh yeah, he's an exhibitionist, cause he's proud of his schlong.

It's worth seeing if you can get past him, and close your eyes for the 3 shots. But I really doubt it will hold up at all on repeat viewings. The best lines were by Brand, Rudd & Jonah Hill, and they're really brief. (*spoiler*) I did spit coke when Rudd said " 'e sounds like 'e's from London" - maybe not so much of a spoiler, but it's funny as hell in context.

The premise/setting reminded me of the equally "meh" Heartbreak Kid (Ben Stiller) that came out last year. Not the exact same, but enough to feel repetitive.

PS - That's the first time Kunis has looked like an all-growed-up woman to me, which was a plus. I thought she looked great. My wife thought her face was way too orange from all the makeup.

I thought it was funny. But I agree, there was too much penis, and always when I wasn't expecting it.

Edit: I found Mila Kunis to be hotter in the movie also. Still not sure if that picture was real or not though.

The 40 Year Old Virgin and Gay awesome people From Outer Space sound funny too.. I wouldn't call either of them hilarious though.

Uh, that's a little uncalled for...

Yes, I realize that's probably a real movie.
