Gold only, my ass! :|

I think this is something that Microsoft will continue to do frequently with highly anticipated demos. Put it out initially only for Live Gold members and then a few days or a week later make it available to everybody else. This is one of the ways they're trying to increase the number of people subbing to Live Gold.

They've been doing this for a while now.

It's a good way to cause me to NOT go Gold(out of spite). I barely play games online on the PC where it's free, I'm not paying a monthly/yearly sub just to download demos first. I'll wait a week, thanks.

LOL..you will sure show them!

I was up late last night doing some work anyway so I started my download as soon the demo hit. I'll post my impressions after playing it later. :)

I set it to download this morning before I left for work. I've got a ton of stuff to do this evening (Cub Scouts meeting, Soccer coaches meeting, dinner, kids, etc) so everyone here will probably have tried this out long before me.

You fargin stinkin bastiches.

PSN gets updated with new content every Thursday around 4-5PM EST. So, it should be ready for you when you get home from work.

Cool, so I'll know to check it weekly at that time of the week. Good to know.

Played it a while, and I'm not nearly as impressed with the demo as I wanted to be. The environment in the demo wasn't even close to destructible enough for how much was reported about that 'feature'. There's a lot of stuff to throw around and push, but the environment doesn't really change that much. Some random stuff breaks sure and adds to the parts that you can throw around but it's nothing to write home about. I leveled up my force push near the beginning of the demo and once that was chargeable that was really cool. I wish the upgrade system was a little bit better explained in the demo as it seems to be the main reason to keep going.

I'll probably buy it because my roomies want to play it as well, and they'll all chip in some money. If it was on my own however I'd probably give it a pass.

Alright, I got some time in with the demo tonight. Woohoo! I like the graphics, I like the physics, I'm loving the story....the AI is just dumb as bricks though. At one point, a Tie Fighter came by to try and shoot at something and ran into a wall and exploded all over the place. Nice explosion but just dumb. Still, it was fun slinging everything and everybody around the levels.

I got to the AT-ST before I died and had to run off to do something else. There really wasn't much of a challenge until the AT-ST. You can pretty much rip through all the Stormtroopers and rebel guards without much of a problem. The AT-ST is a challenge only because of it's massive firepower and I forgot that I could block. I'm going to try and give it another run through tonight to get to the end of the demo and see if the challenge improves.

Oh wait. On a second play through, The AT-ST encounter is the end of the demo. And the Tie Fighter crashing was a scripted event.

The enemy AI is still dumb as bricks though.

Ok, playing on Sith Lord difficulty (second highest) is more of a challenge than playing on the default difficulty (forgot the name). Enemies have more firepower and will actually recognize you.

I'm having fun finding ways to sling things and stormtroopers around with the Force Grab. At one point, there were two or three stormtroopers hiding behind a bunch of crates next to a ledge. I grabbed a different crate and moved it to their side and then flung it at them. Sent both of them flying off the edge of the ledge. Another time I just floated a barrel over the top of a stormtrooper and let it drop straight on to his head which flattened him.

This game allows you to be pretty sadistic. I grabbed one stormtrooper and just floated him off the side of a ledge and let him flail around before I just dropped him.

For some reason my brain is freaking out when I try to move items with force grip. I always invert my camera. Up is down, down is up. But when I want to use force grip and move it around in the air, I want up to be up and down to be down. I don't know why. My brain just goes nuts and im having a SUPER hard time doing that. Weird. And if I change the settings my brain willl explode trying to use the camera when not using force grip. I wish there was an option to have it different for camera and force.

Overall I enjoyed the demo though and will buy it day 1 i think. (I need a new game so bad, so this will do)

They made a huge deal out of the destructible environment. Whatever. A bunch of crates. Wow.

I played once through on easy and didn't die. The AI is pathetic.

There are some cool ways to kill people, though. Force grip, lift up high, then through your saber into the dude. Also, you can lift them up, then force lightning their ass and toast them.

The sound effects are cool. The music is a little strange; not very JWesque.

I spent a few minutes messing with Gonk and the MSE-6 droid waiting for them to 'speak'.

Too bad they couldn't add a generic MP DM to the game. Jedi Knight II was a blast on PC. I'd imagine this one would be cool to play online.

Leave multiplayer for first person shooters where it's mere mortals trying to kill each other. No game can do justice when it comes to an epic battle between two nearly indestructable demi-gods.

Isn't there offline multiplayer? I heard that was a feature a while back.

I enjoyed the demo overall. After just completing Too Human--I feel like they nailed the feel of the game, where as SK missed that mark--so it's a nice change for me.

I thought the demo was pretty fun overall. :) The potentiol is there to have great fun if they can keep it interesting.

The Dark Forces game (was it Outcast?) where Force Grip was a huge part of the game was so awesome, and I feel like this game (if done correctly) could build up on that really well.

We'll see...

I had fun with it. I'll for sure buy it. I hope there are more lightsabre combos though.

Oh, I want to point out one design decision I did not like - can't move while blocking. I don't know if this was a decision just to keep the Apprentice from being an even bigger unstoppable juggernaut than he already is but it just doesn't feel right. How many movies and cartoons have we seen of Jedi walking and running while blocking shots with their lightsabers? Now we have a Sith who is having his power jacked up to artificially ridiculous levels and he's stuck in one place anytime you hit the block button?

I felt like I was playing a 3d Soul Calibur with stormtroopers.

Anyways I thought Mr. Apprentice could deflect *some* blasts while running?
