The game keeps crashing on occasion but I'm making some real progress since now I'm just focusing on the main story (I'd like to keep playing this game but don't want to tie up all my energy into this one, I'm sure others are even better!).

I just got to the part where
my dad killed himself. What a waste of time trying to find him lol. At least he didn't get shot like a punk
.

The story and motivation for a lot of the characters is rather silly. The immersion is what people generally praise in FO, though.

You can blow through the main story pretty fast. Definitely do some of the side quests.

Yeah I did that when I first got started. It was fun for a while, but I'm starting to think I should move on to the next couple games ASAP. Too much content.

If it was multiplayer I could take my time.

The big appeal with FO games, at least for me, is the exploration of all those vaults and areas that have nothing to do with the story. Just the experience and immersion of sneaking around with my trusty Lincoln Repeater waiting to crit hit some super mutants.

all the locations, many are nothing "north picnic area" but its very cool when you find a spot that hard to get too and something is there.. The game rewards the explorer, some of the better items are just laying out in the open, but you need to explore to find um.

I never felt like i wasnt finding something new. And the areas with the hard mobs.. Deathclaws early in the game.. so much fun trying to sneak around um..

Yeah. I loved getting into that one excavation site (strip mine maybe) which had a ton of Deathclaws, sneak my way up one of the cranes, and then snipe at all the Deathclaws while they run around trying to figure out what to do...

Problem is I want to be ready for the next big release, I'll take my time on that one ;)

I like doing both the story and goofing around, so I don't feel like I'm missing much.

BEFORE YOU START NEW VEGAS:

Come see me. Theres some nuances you need to be made aware of, as well as some game-breaking bugs.

There are no bugs that I am aware of, especially game braking bugs. I may have had a crash or two and some visual glitches, but that's about it. Played Fallout all the way from FA3 to Vegas with all the DLC that exists. No serious problems ever.

Yeah, once you put in the quad-core tweak, things typically work just fine (that is unless you are mod'ing, in which case, you can run into all kinds of things).

I think the only problem I encountered in NV was at the start, the professor's head spinning around and doing some crazy graphics glitching. Of course, a restart fixed them.

I don't get why you would want to miss 80% of a game so you can move onto the next one? Unless you don't like Fallout, then I understand.

Stick around long enough to mess with the bomb in Megaton, get a pet super mutant and put on some power armor!

Beating the main quest is excellent. Beating Broken Steel is good too.
The side areas are a crapload of fun. I really enjoyed the Mothership and Anchorage. Maryland and the Pitt were OK.

Ok so I beat the main quest yesterday and bought Fallout: NV since it was on sale for $4.

I'm just not liking NV nearly as much. I really don't like this whole cowboy town you start off in and then head to a casino with more guys that look like cowboys and indians. WTH?

The setting was so dark and the music was perfect in FO3. Does NV get any better? I may just hop to the next game (Oblivion).

I TOLD YOU TO FIND ME FIRST!!

Did you get all the DLC's?

You dont have to deal with the first town if you dont want.
But the game is set in the desert and thats both the tone and the backdrop. Many people like New Vegas better cuz its a little more open and free. Also because of the crafting, and the multiple types of ammo.

I didn't get any dlc. I like to beat games and move on. Looks like I might just move on. I can double support them for fo3 lol.

OK, had you talked to me I could have told you that all the DLC's add a bunch of goodies to the main game.

One of them ONLY adds stuff to the main game, its not a side area.

It's a learning experience, it's just part of what makes the game great. Sometimes things look like junk can be useful later, you'll get recipes/schematics at various points and they will require specific objects to build.

You can cheat and look it up on the wiki first if you really must but it's part of the charm of the game, you learn as you go and it's part of what makes it feel rewarding when you beat the game and feel like a wasteland pro.

My advice is to only look up stuff if you get stuck, enjoy your time playing the game and learning stuff first hand.

Dude, you need to get over yourself. Wouldn't have changed a thing. I don't need to talk to anyone before I decide to play a game.

If the game is bad by itself, that's not incentive for me to buy something to make it better.
