hi, what is def voltage for gpu? hwinfo at def shows max 0.88v and as i see u set it to 1.225 o_O. i set gpu to 1450Mhz with def v and f12013 runs well but in benchmark i gain only 1fps (compared to 1200Mhz) ;/ at med settings 1080p and cpu at stock speed.

I would imagine that like any gpu there is a bottleneck and it isn't with your core speed with that game.

Have you tried overclocking your ram? I run mine at 2400 OC'ed from 1600MHz for my tests.

No i haven't oc ram, anyway i just oc'ed cpu to 4.0 and igpu to 1,4 and now at medium i gained around 5fps (min and avg) so looks like cpu helped. anyway i'm still set gpu vcore to def(auto in bios), temps at 1.4ghz are around 47C, what are max safe vcore for gpu?
at 1450 im getting artifacts sometimes, and at 1500 all the time.

its temporary igpu oc, im waiting for decent gpu just don't know witch one :D 290x/290/780/780ti are on wishlist :p

The iGPU responds to anything up to 1.25v, after that not so much.

I would overclock everything, uncore, core, ram, igpu. I never played with it enough to figure out what was helping my scaling so much, but I can't imagine any of them hurt :)

You don't need any of those big cards, I played BF4 Beta with my HD4600... I should have added those results to this thread :|

for playing at 1080p at ultra/med/low settings with stable 60/120/144fps(i have 144hz monitor) i need one of them :) and for bf 60fps is min for comfortable playing (500h in bf3)
so far i set vcore to 1.0 and now 1500, no problems at all, gonna oc it tomorrow and see can i reach 1700Mhz.
thx for help.

got bf4 today, and im surprised, performance is way better than in beta. 1080p res scale at 50% (game looks like shi**) but its playable :D sometimes i have 100fps, and drops to 30-40.
btw, i changed vcore for gpu to 1.25 and in hwinfo at load is only 1.025. any other program to check real vcore during game?

Not that I'm aware of...

Are you playing above fxaa with low settings for 1080p?

I'd try to get the res scaling back up closer to 100%, or use a lower res in window mode :|

When I tested it I did 768 @ 1080p and it looked nothing short of awful compared to what I had been seen with it at ultra 1080p with 200% res scaling :p

everything is set to low, no fxaa, msaa or any other aa mode, and ye i changed from 1080p and 50% res scale to custom around 1024x768 window and res scale at 85% its looks much better :)
ye but what u need to run it at 200% res, i know a guy with 2xtitan and 150% is challanging to keep 60+ fps.
1-2 weeks waiting for normal gpu :)

I liked it better when you were a cat OP :p

Interesting thread though  Seems HD 4600 is not completely hopeless with high end games. Some people would find those settings/FPS playable.

that's game from bf4 at fullhd, low settings, res scale at 70%
recorded with nexus 4, movie compressed to 720p, ill make another one later and compress it to fhd, so quality might be slightly better.
Link
another movie
this time windowed mode at 1280x720 available in 1080p :)
iGPU rox :D but still gonna buy better one :)

Will be adding Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Batman: Arkham Origins here shortly while I wait for the 780 Ti Classified to hit Newegg ;)

Of note the HD 4600 is slightly slower than my OC'ed 9800 GT (750/1860) due largely from what I can tell to vram buffer. 9800 GT gets higher fps, but it jutters more.

Teaser :D (highest enviro/text quality)

Game is sorely unoptimized for low end PC gaming, the view distance is just ridiculous with no way to curb it.

You mean your highly overclocked HD 4600, right? How do you think a stock HD4600 or A10 would compare to a 9800 GT?

I am asking because my grandson has a fairly old machine running a 9800 GT and I was wondering if an integrated solution would be a significant upgrade. Actually it is a laptop with a 9800 gt equivalent, so I can't just upgrade the gpu.

Im sure a HD4600 desktop would obliterate a laptop with a mobile 9800GT. But dont lose sight of the fact that a pentium with a 7750 would cost less, outperform, and use less power than the overclocked 4670K.

Dont want to get too off topic, but I was more like wondering how a dual core pentium laptop with a GTX 260M (the older gaming laptop he has now) would compare to say an A10 laptop or HD4600 mobile for gaming.

He wants to build a desktop, and for sure if he does that instead of getting another laptop, we will use something like an FX6300 or i5 and a discrete card in the range of HD7850 or 7790. So far, I am very strongly against (no offense meant Balla) gaming on the igp in a desktop, since as you said, you do much better with a discrete card and lower end cpu for about the same price.

You don't need an i5-4670k to overclock the iGPU. That said every bench I do with the HD 4600 is at 1750MHz with my ram overclocked from 1600 to 2400.

The 9800 GT is always faster, however in this case because it's a 512mb card it seems to suffer due to lack of vram which is why I prefer the HD 4600 in AC4:BF.

Certainly wouldn't want anything slower than the HD4600 with the OC, even then it's not enough for some titles.. But AC4:BF is just a really poorly done PC title from a low end standpoint. The view distance is the same on my HD4600 as it was on my 7950, you can see entire towns + more and the culling seems lacking as well when you can't.

System power consumption is around 115w generally, that's with the cpu at 4.8GHz and the iGPU at 1.75GHz.

HD4600 and really all iGPUs are good for the 768 budget screen laptops, anything above that you really want to go with a dedicated solution.

How do you go about overclocking the intel hd 4600 ?? I am waiting for the money to buy a graphics card and need an alternative until i do so how did you overclock it ??? ( im a noob :D )

Same way you would a CPU, except you really just change multi and voltage as that's all there really is to do.

When your iGPU is enabled you should see the OC options for it pop up in your bios, where would depend on your bios.. For me it's right below my ring bus speed for both multi and voltage.
