For sure. Not that my job is really high paying, but the more I make, the more I take home. Also, the more I take home, the more I make.

you are strange, if you like physical labor jobs why did you get a psych degree?
is there a possibility you are just lazy (i do not mean to offend you) or you have no drive to do better than the bare minimum in the job you get, the work you do, and the pay you earn?
like you also said could you have a self esteem issue where you don't think you are worth more or even if you are that you won't be able to keep up with what they ask of you?

What!??!! Maybe that really small percentage of people in their early twenties that went right to college and completed their masters degree as fast as possible. I doubt even 10% of people in their early 20's make that much money. Gratz if you do though.

I make significantly more than $40k a year with just a 4 year degree, and I'm 23. Most 4 year degree holders these days make more than $40k at their first job.

Hell I'm working in retail full time right now while going to school full time and my salary is 30k/year and I'm 20. Trying to get an internship for the fall though.

my favorite job ever paid about $18/hr.. my most hated job ever paid $23/hr... i think i liked the lower paying one because it was freakin brainless, and everyone there loved me.. i have a BSME, and i was doing low level accounting work.. so it was a breeze, and everyone thought i was a genius... i now work at a much higher paying job than $18/hr and i like it..

it's probably because the people at the lower paying jobs are more relaxed, because those jobs are easier and less stressful... here at my new job, it's nice cause the people are nice, but the work is more stressful

please don't complain when someone who makes more than you gets more money back from the government because of a tax cut.

More money means I can retire earlier and do what really makes me happy - nothing at all. All work is a suck level of about 80 out of 100. Working at a job that pays twice as much may be a suck level of 90, but lets me retire 10 years earlier. 10 years of my life doing what I actually want means a lot to me.. more than that extra 10 suckage points.

I will not work at a job that I do not enjoy. It may make things a little harder in life and I may have to work a little longer, but I dont give a rats ass that I retire 10 years earlier if have been unhapppy for the previousl 30. I make about 25k plus benefits and I am EXTREMELY happy to work here (set to retire at 54 BTW) and I would stay here the rest of my life working rather than work at a job that I hate and is a horrible work enviroment. Not to mention, the lower pressure at work means that I can spend more time with my family (when i have kids). When I walk out the door at 5 my work stays at work.

OP Im with you 100%, I know exactly how you feel.

wow, preparing to support a wife and kid on 25K per year..you will be shopping at goodwill and living in a 500sq foot apartment with your 2 kids running around, and forget any entertainment/computer upgrades/nice dinners, etc
