Can someone please explain to me how they can safely ship this combo preassembled without it getting damaged? I'm new to this type of shipment and really don't see how it's done. Even though it's preassembled, any chance you think we'd get the box for at least the mobo? If not, anyone know if the cables should be coming too? I remember when I followed the link to the mobo from the Retail Access website, it showed the mobo with the box. Once again, wishful thinking, but oh well....

Just called TD. They said mine is in drop ship at the AMD warehouse and should be at my door in 4-5 business days since I did regular shipping.

Guess? place the processor on the board, put the board in the box, and ship with heatsink detached.

at least thats how most of the stuff we have bought "pre-assembled" has been.

dell ships computers preassembled. what's the difference?

I'd also be very appreciative if someone that qualifies for this but not looking to take advantage of this might consider hooking a fellow anander up! Of course there would be a generous donation to him/her for such a kind act 🙂

for those wanting this deal but not in retail... just wait until people start getting them and check EBAY!!! or maybe the FS forum. 😱) the memories of the intel deal 😱) lol

Just wanted to apologize for my earlier posts about the big performance hit you take from the Clawhammer to the Newcastle core. I didn't look too much into them before I posted and just went off of a few numbers. Turns out that the Newcastle, even though it is 512kb less for the L2 Cache, has a 200 mhz faster core speed AND is apparantly a much better oc'ing candidate. Another thing I learned was that you only take about a max of a 5% hit in only a few apps/games by losing the other 512kb of L2 Cache. Now they both sound good in their own rites, cuz the Clawhammer still has the ability to outperform the Opteron and the Newcastle has great potential.

Moral: Have fun with whatever you get!

I am getting really impatient with the delay for us Canadians customers...they say there is a still problem processing our orders, so i still haven't been able to order mine.

As long as i can eventually get one 🙂...

I don't recall getting a box on the last AMD deal. I've had stuff pre-assembled and it's just fine(with packaging of course).

Good thing this hasn't gone as fast as the Intel deal, eh? I guess that guy I called at Retail Access was right when I posted earlier that he said he honestly didn't see this selling out as fast as the Intel deal. He said they had a whole bunch but wouldn't give me an exact number....

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed one on the last exam!!!

I now have 290/300 pts 🙁

I only work one day a week right now, so im pouring it on strong this sunday to sell a 64 🙂
I feel your pain. I don't need this but it sure would be nice. I missed 1 question of 2 of the quizes leaving me 20 points short. Our store does not sell 64 systems as of yet otherwise my manager would sign this for me.

Not only does your manager have to sign it, but you must turn in the serial number from the system sold.

I signed my Father-in-law up for this. Can I purchase it with my credit card or will he have to do it? I'm actually building a system for him, he has no computer building skills.

So long as his name is on the order and your name is on the credit card info it should go through fine. If you're worried, you could give them a call and say that you're a parent trying to order one for your kid that's under 18... no harm can be done. If they ask why last name isn't the same, it's a stepchild.

Dudes, I ordered late in the day on Wed I think and this thing just showed up on my desk 2 hrs ago!!
Its packed an a big paper corrugate box (cardboard, but that is a naughty word in my biz). The heatsink/fan are assembled, I haven't taken the shrink wrap / antistat off yet. Comes w/ one disc of FarCry (i alreday own this game and I could have swore it took like 5 cds to install??? ) and the oversized AMD 64+ t shirt. I ordered and will ONLY pay ground, but here it is. WOW

Any news on this? My friend and I both work at Office Max but he does not have a credit card. I wonder if I can order it for him and have it ship to him?

Why don't you have him buy a pp gift/credit card or somethign?

I just got mine! Standard shipping too! WOW THAT WAS FAST! Mobo\CPU are already on the board and shirt came in an envelope. There's also a seperate bag with IDE cables, firewire PCI cable, and an SPDF PCI board thingy, and manuals. Haven't tested anything yet, but I am really impressed!
