There is no screen protector on the Evo in the picture, it's stock everything. The Evo does look amazing, but that's amazing for an LCD, not amazing compared to everything on the market. It's moderately surprising to me that OLED technology has been out this long and so many tech enthusiasts appear to have had no idea the difference was that large. The difference between LCD and OLED is nothing short of the difference between LCD and CRT. A key difference being OLED fixes virtually all of LCD's shortcomings while LCD was/is inferior to CRT in a lot of ways.
OLED is worse in direct sunlight than an LCD(but still usable), but it's a bit far-fetched to say any LCD is good in bright sunlight, they are all similarly terrible. OLED is superior in every other aspect; all indoor lighting conditions, evening outdoors lighting conditions, color, contrast, viewing angles, and battery consumption.
With the way OLED's sunlight issue is criticized, some of you guys make it sound like you know of a phone that looks good in sunlight. There is no phone on the planet that is suitable for web browsing or reading for long periods of time in direct sunlight without shade of some sort. They are all moderately usable at best, none provide a good experience in bright sunlight. I've never been in a situation where I wasn't able to use the phone. I don't like using it outside at noon, but it's fine pretty much any other time.
