do people realize we would have all of these if ea never existed? sorry i just cant stress how much ea has destroyed pc gaming. i wish microsoft would buy them up and just delete the entire company from existence. skip the recycle bin on this one, mr gates. its too much shit to fit in there at once.

Why makes you think that we would have these without EA? Like it or not EA ran the analysis and decided that these titles weren't cost effective on PC - your premise is that any other publisher would have come to a different conclusion. On what basis? Your premise is faulty.

And you know what? Like or hate EA, there's also A LOT of titles, recent and old, that probably wouldn't exist without them.

It's not a publisher or consoles that "destroyed" PC gaming, but piracy. There's no reason for a developer or publisher to care about the PC version.

And the stale argument about how they wouldn't have bought it anyway is a fallacy. For many people (entitled self-centered sociopaths) the choice between easily acquiring a game they want to play for free or paying for it is an easy choice.

Screw Nascar 2011 there hasn't been a decent nascar game since Papyrus shuttered, and that had nothing to do with EA.

Well, EA no longer holds a NASCAR licence, so you can't blame them for lack of a NASCAR game on the PC.

my bad then. last i heard, but that was a year ago.

if ea never existed, yes there would be a lot less horrible games on pc. and there would be NFL2k1 because sega would actually have a chance to buy the license. and i dont care who makes the new nascar 2011 for pc, the point is that ea is gone and it probably would be a great game comparatively to their efforts.

steam has been a pretty damn good deterrent from piracy, where the hell was the gaming industry a decade ago on that? im tired of piracy being blamed for everything, when their solution was to throw ungodly amounts of money at drm that was never plausible or secure.

heres a crazy idea, make the multiplayer part of your games work well enough that people actually want to use it. pretty much kills piracy as soon as you can authenticate each time online. oh, and how about putting the game in a cd package that might actually be worth holding onto? the carboard boxes they come in now start looking like garbage just sitting there. give us a standard, collectable packaging that might be worth something more then the game itself someday....

A lot of people buy games solely for their SP components, so making MP more important may not have much impact. Also, a lot (probably MOST) gamers don't care what the packaging looks like, they're only interested in the game.

Yeah, and dungeon keeper 3 instead of a fking long forgotten by now harry potter game....

Or maybe a new populous or theme park game.

Or maybe command and conquer but everything after red alert 2 would've actually been good instead of worthless garbage.

If EA didn't exist PC gaming would be in a lot better state, most of those franchises i mentioned wouldn't do well on consoles so they would have to stick with the PC for them. Not that it was even a big factor back in 2000ish when stuff like that was on the table.

Only positive things we have from EA are mass effect and dead space which really had ah heck all to do with EA they just bought bioware as they had nearly finished mass effect and got lucky with visceral. Its a good bet we would have had mass effect and dead space without EA.

The NFL2k11 franchise is a 2K sports game, not EA. I assume you mean Madden 2011. Though I can't imagine you're a big fan if you don't even know what the games are called.

I think an important thing is solidarity of gamers. We should only pay for games we really like. In an ideal society, I think everyone should pay as much as they like for games, and I'm sure that that way some games would get even more $ than they have now. I mean, 100$ is not too much for some of the best games I've played.
Of course, it's just a hypothetical thought, not that I'm ever paying for anything, hah. :whiste:

Again, you assume the premise that ll of these would be published without EA. Obviously EA did the analysis and decided it wouldn't be profitable. What makes you think anyone else would come to the same conclusion? And do you really want developers creating games that fail financially? That's would destroy the industry very rapidly.

Then fuck off because you're part of the problem. I'm serious - you don't deserve an opinion on this matter. You're scum.

Nice try troll 😀 Im not biting.

Troll not found. You're not "biting" because you have difficulty with accepting reality. You think that benevolent studios should create exactly the games you want and to hell with whether they make any money doing it.

Games are much more expensive to develop than they used to be. Small studios cant exist in the same way any more. You need massive sales just to break even with new games. Again, your premise is faulty.

Blah blah blah like i said not biting 😀

Not that I have a right to express my opinion in this matter ( ... 😀 ) but I really don't think Sim City 4 would be a financial fail. That would solely depend on the quality of the game. If it was at least as good as SC4, it would certainly be a good success. Nascar is a different matter. It's a game for a small number of public, particularly because of all the new racing games in the competition. Also it would require a very advanced graphical engine, which is costly. Nascar would probably be a financial fail.

well if that doesnt justify this thread then i dont know what will. for those who say EA didnt fuck up pc gaming, their own CEO admits it. i guess thats the first step toward recovery?

"The command and conquer model," he said, "doesn’t work. If you think you’re going to buy a developer and put your name on the label…
you’re making a profound mistake."

i know what i said. if ea sports didnt own the sole nfl license, then there would be an nfl2k game

Dungeon Keeper 3 they specifically killed the development because they thought it'd compete with some other shitty game they owned the license for >.< EA can diaf.
