You're a crappy admin. Users shouldn't even be able to install anything at all.

Are you all reading my responses? I stated waaay back in the post that giving or revoking local admin rights is not up to me. My boss establishes IT policies since he is the IT director. If it were up to me they wouldn't be able to adjust the clock settings. Besides the story has a minor twist to it -- I failed to mention that this user gave his company laptop back so this is one that he purchased himself. So him not being an admin probably isn't an option. Then that brings me to my next belief...if it's not a company machine then we shouldn't have to support it when it breaks. :Q

No..see thats the bad thing. My boss runs the place. Everybody has local admin rights. He is thinking about changing that but it's been that way always. It's his call...If it were up to me then I would never give them admin rights. However he's afraid to put his foot down on anything. ugh.. its one thing when you start users off with very little rights and then add a couple which they are very appreciative about. Totally different ball of wax when you give them full rights and then take them away. You'll be getting "well i used to be able" and "i never had to call you before to do this" or "why cant i install aol on my computer anymore?"
