For all you NYC Subway riders.....

Yeah, that pic is really funny! But I will admit that more often than not, there really is a following train, epecially when there is a delay in service for a while and then they all get bunched up together.

I have no idea what that pic is about. Thank you and good day.
You have at least two subway systems over there. And yours is a lot faster. I hear BART does 70mph or more under the bay...

The Bay Area BART is no stranger to problems either. I've found myself wasting 45 minutes at a time while they fix "technical issues" with their trains. It's very frustrating when you have already planned your schedule. But I must say that the BART does haul A$$ when it's going under the Bay....takes less than 5 minutes.

The Los Angeles MTA "Metro Rail" (what they call all their light rail cars, subterranean or above ground) actually seems to work pretty well from what I've seen. Maybe it's because it has nowhere near the ridership of SF or NYC. I think the fastest it goes is around 55MPH.

The DC Metro owns.

Seriously. It tells you when the next train is coming, the trains are driverless, and they do 50mph+ between many of the stations. That's what you get for waiting 'till the 1960's to design your system.

I take it you enjoy driving on those curvy roads 🙂

WHAT city planners?
Actually if you look where the official city borders are its pretty tiny and the only curved road that goes through it that I can think of is I-4.

The "greater Orlando area" is really just a massively overgrown rest stop where they happened to run all the East-West highways North & South to connect the 2 other pieces because the state highway planners screwed up and the sections built starting from the east coast were about 30 miles off from the sections built starting from the west coast.

Fare hikes aren't just for NYC... they are affecting the Long Island Rail Road too. My fiance forgot her "new" monthly pass this morning and was forced to buy a one-way into the city @ $8.75 :| Guess it's almost $20 for her to get back and forth today. This doesn't even include the NYC subway fare when she gets there...

Damn MTA needs to suck it.

Yeah Metro-North just went up too. $12 to buy on the train from where I live in Connecticut to GCT. Add a subway ride downtown and back and that's $27. Of course you get a discount if you buy monthly. I hate commuting...

We often take the subway home after an evening downtown. The looooong wait, the lack of an express train... they make us think, "$2 for this #%^@?!?". If they're raising the fare to $2, lower the fare at night when the service sucks more than it usually sucks.

Don't forget the weekends when there's some kind of construction that re-routes certain trains and time schedules. Sometimes you're forced to take a friggin bus to get from one train to another.

"Attention all passengers, the N train will now run on the W line..." ... yeah that's just great. Perfect for all the people who can't understand English... which is a lot in NYC. MTA needs to buy a clue.

<-- glad he doesn't have to deal with it as much as city people...

Toronto's TTC system rocks. One ticket ($2.25CDN for an adult) lets you use the RT, Subway, and Buses in one shot as long as it connects to get you to your desitnation.

For example, when I goto University, I take the bus to the RT station. Then take the RT to the subway station. Then I take the subway to my stop. All on one ticket.

Prices will never go down, they'll just keep going up. Everything in NYC is going up. It's getting to be too expensive.

The BART system was pretty good when I used to live in that area. I used to take it to get to school and go under the bay. It was an easy way to get around.

But nothing compares to MARTA in ATL heh.
