See, I asked respectfully and he's still not willing to oblige. It doesn't matter how the question is presented. It stops ALL these conversations. I have yet to meet one single Christian who can answer the question without resorting to, basically "because I want to" or "because I always have" or some other sort of choice based on absolutely nothing to do with the existence of the god they choose to worship.

It's pretty typical for the Christian in question to resort to petty, cop-out excuses like "ask me politely." Good grief. Screw your balls on and answer the goddamn question.

it's kind of like being asked why you love your S.O., sometimes you just know you do and can't really explain it. but yeah, i see what you mean by cop out. i wasn't going in that direction, more the "just be nicer to people and maybe they'll listen to your opinions".

for me i have an on again off again thing with faith. i grew up in a christian home, but i never really bought into it. i have a brain that needs to see things to believe them, it's just how i am. sometimes i WANT to believe, because honestly death scares the hell out of me, and it would be comforting to know there is something after this life. and honestly, there is just too much that science can't explain. hell even when they can, it's not always right. the world isn't flat you know. for all i know we're all just someone's ant farm.

although, even in my times of faith i've never worshiped. i'm not a church person, and i'm not outward with my beliefs. of course, i am like that with most every facet of my life.

Again, a cop-out. "Just because" isn't an excuse for anything.

You should be able to voice why you love your SO. If you can't, you aren't paying attention and don't care enough about something so important.

If Christianity is so important as to involve my so-called immortal soul (proof it exists, please?), why isn't there anything to support it?

where did i say just because? i think i tried to answer your question, at least for me personally. also i did a ninja edit.

edit again: there are people out there who probably don't feel the need to justify what they believe to you or anyone else as well. i'm sure you'll call that a cop out, but whatever. personally when you said "logic and reason" as to why you could prove god doesn't exist, the first thing i thought was cop out, so i guess we're even.

apparently you've never been married.

christianity isn't what is important anyway. it's believing in something. if you don't believe there's a god, you don't believe you have a soul, so why care? quite honestly i have a hard time believing i'm me and you're you just because of our dna and soul. otherwise, why can't i clone you and have an exact copy. and would the clone really be you, or you2. would you have the same feelings? beliefs? memories? would you both share the same hive mind? it's the problem i have with reincarnation. if i can't remember being me, who cares if i'm reborn as a grasshopper or whatever else?

THETANS!! YOU HAVE EVIL THINGS IN YOUR HEAD! Believe me! I have absolutely no shred of evidence to show you to prove that my wild accusation is correct, but you'll live forever after you die if you just believe me and live your life like I tell you!

Oh! And, even though I can't prove that you have evil thetans in your head, I somehow have magical technology machine that you clamp onto your head that you have to sit under for a certain period of time at regular intervals to get rid of these evil Thetans!

But, no, I can't prove that Thetans are real.

...yeeeaaaaah, no.

Same thing for Christianity.

Op f@ck off. I love how these religion call out threads are allowed but as soon as someone gets even the slightest bit racist they are permabanned. I'm not even 100% sure what I believe as far as religion but it's not cool to bag on someone for what they believe. Why don't you get out of your mom's house before you go around trying to bag on someone's beliefs.

personally i believe most organized religions are crazy anyway. whether it's god who had a kid who was killed by the jews for being too uber, or some fat dude, or a collection of gods who could throw lightning bolts, or some dude who is going to give you virgins if you blow yourself up... it's all a bit nutty. i guess for me it's more important you believe in something greater than yourself, even if it's just humans as a whole? i dunno.

thetans sound pretty awesome tho. and this pizza i'm eating is excellent.

you can't choose your race...Christians of all sorts "bag" on others for what they believe all the time, it's how they reassure themselves.

That's very un-Christian of you. Christians are supposed to be accepting of ALL. Christians seem to forget that accepting everyone means accepting everyone. Not accepting who YOU think is good or bad. Gays are just as human as you are. Scientologists are just as good as you are. Atheists are just as good as you are. Christians seriously are the most hypocritical people in the world.

1. who said i was christian?
2. which part of my statement was not "accepting"? i never said any one was better than the other. just that they are not the same. it's like lumping muslims together with jews. sure, they believe in a god but it's not the same god or faith.

What you describe is law, not morality. They are not the same thing. Morality cannot be swayed by what is legal or socially acceptable. It needs to be a set standard. If it isn't, then it has no substance. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral, nor does making something illegal suddenly make it immoral. They are two different things.

Many words. Zero valid reasons.

Actually, muslims and jews believe in the same god.

This thread is full of nonsense
speaking of nonsense...

And the "no logical reason to believe in a deity" well where did everything come from? Is it REALLY logical to say it all happened by random happenings? Stop and think about it - not just pass over it like always, but actually give it some serious thought. Random chance can't create order, chance isn't a force anyway. There has to be a cause for every effect.

Okay, in your own words, there has to be cause for every effect. Everything had to come from something. So, answer this question: Where did God come from?

<expecting a total cop out of an answer>
