It is a legitimate question, but my issue is why you ask it. It has nothing to do with my refusal to answer it, and I'm not refusing. I just want to be clear that you are honest about why you ask.

See, even now you can't answer, despite you quoting my satisfying your requirements to answer the question, you still refuse to answer the question.

It's shit like this that make people stop taking you seriously and brush off those who claim the same titles you do: Christian.

religion is great. the church on the other hand sucks.

I never liked the idea of orginal sin. just does not seem right to me. then agian the idea a person can live a christ like life and be denied heaven because they never accepted christ but a man who mollest kids, murders them and eats them and 5 min before he gets the needle is baptized and accepts christ is allowed in? yeah thats not right.

What logic is that? Simply asking for proof?

Isn't it the duty of the person making wild claims to provide supporting evidence as to why they believe as they do? Blind faith is evil.

Then I ask you the same question and ask for the same courtesy that you expect: prove that God does not exist. The vast majority of the human population of planet Earth believes that God does exist. The burden of proof now shifts to you ... the omnipotent Anandtech user known as "Nik". Prove that God does NOT exist.

FYI ... the rest of the world could literally care less if you believe or not. It is now your responsibility to prove that God DOES NOT exist.

You are a significantly confused individual.

Prove to me that a pink unicorn standing on a rainbow in a galaxy 1000 years away doesn't exist? The above post, dud, is partly the reason why religion is not taken seriously by rational people.

The vast majority may believe that A god exists, that doesn't mean they believe in the same god you do.

You are perpetuating the misunderstanding. You can believe in the pink unicorn all you want, I would never say it doesn't exist. I have no reason to disprove your religion. The point is that many atheists thing they are obligated to prove God doesn't exist, despite it being impossible. Even more, they feel they need to tell religious people they believe in lies and "fairy tales" which you can find in every religious thread here. Atheism is not based in logic, reason, or any other excuse they come up with for being atheist.

the door-to-doorers are a cult (jehovah's witnesses).
please don't lump them together with christians.

That's very un-Christian of you. Christians are supposed to be accepting of ALL. Christians seem to forget that accepting everyone means accepting everyone. Not accepting who YOU think is good or bad. Gays are just as human as you are. Scientologists are just as good as you are. Atheists are just as good as you are. Christians seriously are the most hypocritical people in the world.

It's an honest question. It's probably one of the few questions I ask about religion that don't have some sort of argumentative retort already prepared, simply because of the nature of the question. It's the first question that broke me of my brainwashing so it's the one I find myself asking believers in earnest. Really, truly, why do you believe?

Why do you ask this question? Why do you pester believers? If you're the pure rationalist you portray, if you have no tendency or inkling of faith, then you should consider this activity, and those who believe, unworthy of your time and attention.

This sort of pestering of believers however comes across as an expression of some insecurity and personal question of faith, but that should be done personally.

Well, see, this is where I would just walk away from you while you were talking. Sometimes you just gotta insist on more than just someone Stating something.

I don't think I'm better than believers.

Why can they talk about their belief in nothing in public, but I'm not allowed to talk about my lack of belief in that same something publicly?

Yet Christians go around saying the way someone lives their life is wrong, if you don't follow their god you are not going to heaven, etc etc, seems similar to me.

You are a significantly confused individual.

I see with the clarity that only MANY years of life can provide. You, on the other hand are akin to the toddler who tells his grandfather that he knows not of what he speaks.

For your own sake ... consider the fact that you are not the king of the Universe, that other peoplle may not agree with your views of said Universe ... and that you may ultimately be wrong in your assumptions of the Universe.

Nik, I will no longer be "baited" by your disbelief. You will not nor never will convince me NOT to believe in something that I cannot see nor will I convince you that said being exists. You remind me of the child that asks an adult to prove that air exists ... even though you breathe. The bottom line is I will no longer reply to your diatribes.

You do not believe ... so be it. Just stop being as ass along with your kindergarten chums trying to disprove those of faith.

You accuse me of being "confused" but you don't know me at all, know not of my education, my career experience, etc. You are a "lifer" ... one who sits behind a computer monitor and attacks others anonymously. Just pathetic ...

Were you drunk when you wrote this? Your definition of "rational" may be other people's definition of buffoonary. Everyone knows that pink unicorns do not stand on a rainbow in a galaxy 1000 years away. It's LIGHT YEARS away. Your opinions (as well as mine) hold no weight here. No one cares what you type when you are drunk or high on whatever you take.

Just keep it inside ... where it's empty.

You should go to bed. I had a long day and I'm too tired to wrestle with you, my greased pig. I'm tired of getting dirty ... and you enjoying it.

All I can recommend (and you of course will not take it) is to get a life FAR away from a keyboard. You probably have never experienced life or the world as you have absolutely no respect for others who might actually believe in something other than you do.

Your Logic is Fail. Sorry.

Only in your Universe with a Unicorn standing on a rainbow 1000 years away (who refers to light-years as years?). You can claim fail but you are just as sorry and pathetic as Nik. You have no respect for anyone other than those who believes in what YOU believe.

I would say you fail ... but then I would be lowering myself to your level. You live behind a keyboard ... I live life with an open mind and believe what I believe ... not what you wish me to.

quit lying to yourself. religion doesn't leave room for an open mind like yours.
