I could go for one of those chicago dogs at the bottom, but otherwise too much cholesterol for me.

While those look tasty, had a subway meatball yesterday, not much in the way of food I don't like.

Thinking about a nice roasted chicken right now.

Is that paella? If so, it seems to be missing rice, but looks freakin' delicious. Last time I made paella was in 2007 in Orlando. My inlaws took our family to Disney to celebrate their retirement, and our condo had a big outdoor cooking pit and lots of interesting cookware, so I ran to the local market one night and whipped this up for them :)

sadly, no pics of my own. my thoughts on the OP's pics:

those chips(?)...does not compute. i'd have to try them to understand what is going on there.

nice-looking meatball sub

the gyro looks a bit dry, and the whole lamb slices instead of ground is a new one to me.

the rueben looks great! cole slaw usually goes with a rachael, but i don't mind it at all.

mozz sticks - good, not great

is that a steak and cheese sub with pickled everything?

in-n-out - the best fast food ever

fancy dog - i'll pass on dogs, esp. with poppy seeds and too much onion

Pretty sure those are fried pickles

Yes they are, they're a mid-west bar food staple, and when they're well make they're the most addictive thing on the planet. You serve them with a sauce based on mayo, horseradish, cayenne pepper, and ketchup.

I think you are referring to the Italian beef. The freaking best! There's a place in IL called Portillo's that makes them pretty good. They are in IN and CA too!

http://www.portillos.com/

OMG- I go to Chicago once a year specifically for Italian beef :D The BEST 2 places are Al's on West Taylor and Portillo's on Ontario. Order them "wet", where they dip the bun into the au jus.

Holy crap I'm going to gain 50 lbs from this thread.

There are other places too. Johnny's in Elmwood park (near west suburb). Buona beef is also popular, the are all over.

Here's the combo from Als.

a48fc6eb-1b88-4c23-82a2-1e2be39df91c_lg.jpg

That's what I get :D

It's a SAH-sage with Italian beef and sweet/spicy peppers on it. Sometimes I'll have them throw some provolone on top too.

If you have a Costco or a Sams near you, they sell a pretty respectable frozen Italian beef in 5 lb buckets. You just put it in a pot and let it slowly defrost. It's a good hold over if you can't get the real stuff.
