To the best of my knowledge, Foo Fighters didn't decide to start putting out crappy album in the late 90s. That means they win.

Californication and By the Way were fing excellent

The Red Hot Chili Peppers created their own genre of music when they finally refined themselves in the mid/late 80s. Being the former biggest RHCP fan on these boards, I have always petitioned for the music of days past where there was more Anti-Beat Box, & less Universally off-key(Speaking). The best music they put out now is the spontaneous jams they play leading in & out of their monotonous set lists, & occasionally the b-side tracks. For the past few years they've gotten a lot more radio friendly, & while I can handle that, this harmonious shit isn't flying with me. Keidis isn't a singer & Fruciante isn't a backup vocalist(good grief). The acoustic stuff seems to work sometimes at least(Road Trippin, Venice Queen)
The band is an amazingly talented group of musicians though. Three quarters of the band is in their 40s now. They don't need this shit anymore it seems. Flea is responsible for some of that weak "Pea" attitude, & he's not quite the same player(though arguably still one of the better bassists out there). I give him points for still trying to mix in the trumpet every now & then. Frusciante & Smith both have their heads in the music most of the time, & I look forward to anything serious those guys work on.
For my record: BSSM>CFC>UMPP>OHM>MM>BTW...
Foo Fighters are grunge/alt-rock guys. Dave is awesome, & I think the rest of the band is a little intimidated by him. He's a very good frontman & musician. Not much of a singer, but of course he's better then Keidis. His music, for what it is(& what I've heard), is engaging. I just don't hear much difference song to song as I'd like. I'm not a serious fan, so my opinions are from the outside looking in.

Hey Dumbass, couldn't you have just made one post instead of 4 to say basically nothing?Originally posted by: eits
oh, by the way, rhcp has much more talented members. flea, john frusciante, chad smith... badasses.
oh, and by the way betch, chad smith looks like will ferrell.

more proof that foo fighters = generic band. it's harder for electric amish to figure out if it's foo fighters or not because it sounds like other stuff... whereas rhcp has it's own sound and is, therefore, easier to identify.
On the contrary, I find the FF to be extremely energetic and moving. I'm also a big fan of early RHCPs. Their latest stuff while good doesn't compare to their older stuff.Originally posted by: LS20

foo fighters is some BLAND, DRY radio rock. its sooooooo boring.
old rhcp is pretty nice - very catch (under the bridge, soul to squeeze, etc)

No, no they weren't. Pretty much any song from BSSM or OHM is far better.

Hate RHCP, sounds like they dont know how to write music even though they have some extremely talanted players, expecialy thier bassist. But the music itself is just amaturish.
though I do own more RHCP cd's than Foo Fighter cd's![]()

and that's why rhcp wins. generic music is lame... and grammy's go to generic stuff. generic stuff = the stuff that sounds like bits and pieces of everyone else's music compiled into something that a large portion of the public will like.
Using Grammys as proof of a bands excellence is ridiculous, sorry. You lose.
Same goes for the #1 hits. Fucking Timberlake had a #1 hit for 7 weeks with "Bringing Sexy Back". Christ.
But lets go to the Rock list:
"What I've Done" Linkin Park #1 for 15 weeks.
Or if you actually want to be serious about it.
RHCP #1 Hits
1993 Soul to Squeeze - 5 weeks
1995 My Friends - 4 weeks.
1999 Scar Tisue - 16 weeks.
2000 Otherside - 13 weeks.
2000 Californication - 1 week.
2002 By The Way - 14 weeks.
2003 Can't Stop - 3 weeks.
2006 Dani California - 14 weeks.
2006 Tell Me Baby - 4 weeks.
2007 Snow ((Hey Oh)) - 5 weeks.
And the sad thing? None of those songs represent their best stuff. Oh, and they won 8 MVAs and 6 Grammy's, but those are irrelevant.

I don't have any "age-old" arguments regarding this band with other forums members as far as I know. I just don't care as much as I use to.
I'll live in the past for now. For now.

Didn't you see just a few post downs someone listing the awards for RHCP? By your standard, FF wins by quite a bit.
Edit: Hell, I'll even repost it for you courtesy of Excelsior.
