Foo Fighters vs. RHCP

As others have been saying, I feel that old RHCP is superior to any new FF out. That being said, RHCP has taken a nosedive in the past 5 or so years.

Using Grammys as proof of a bands excellence is ridiculous, sorry. You lose.

Same goes for the #1 hits. Fucking Timberlake had a #1 hit for 7 weeks with "Bringing Sexy Back". Christ.

But lets go to the Rock list:

"What I've Done" Linkin Park #1 for 15 weeks.

Or if you actually want to be serious about it.
RHCP #1 Hits
1993 Soul to Squeeze - 5 weeks
1995 My Friends - 4 weeks.
1999 Scar Tisue - 16 weeks.
2000 Otherside - 13 weeks.
2000 Californication - 1 week.
2002 By The Way - 14 weeks.
2003 Can't Stop - 3 weeks.
2006 Dani California - 14 weeks.
2006 Tell Me Baby - 4 weeks.
2007 Snow ((Hey Oh)) - 5 weeks.

And the sad thing? None of those songs represent their best stuff. Oh, and they won 8 MVAs and 6 Grammy's, but those are irrelevant.

im really amazed that Under The Bridge wasent a #1 hit, it was really popular at the time it came out and is a badass song

Under the Bridge and the rest of BSSM. Whats odd is Soul to Squeeze was the only #1 which was recorded during the recording of BSSM, yet it wasn't included in the final cut.

stupid question, different generations

its way to easy to like both in this case

no doubt RHCP has been more influential with their older stuff.

It's like a father and son relationship 😛

Dude you picked like the worst songs to represent RHCP... Just use the album "Blood Sugar Sex Magik". Enough said.
as much as i like the foo fighters, i dont find myself revisiting their albums as much as i do for 'blood sugar sex magik'. i mean years after the album released i can still get in my car, pop the cd in, not change a track and just enjoy listening to it as if its brand new to me.

also you may have to concede the victory to marty anyways since its his birthday and all.

FOO > RHCP

I like both and have both in my library but not really a contest, especially if you seen them both live...

Who have they influenced, with the possible exception of the horrible rap-metal bands (e.g., Limp Bizkit) that were popular 8 years ago? I don't really see their influence, particularly on any non-sucky bands.

Foo Fighters throw down and have great energy but....I think that only applies to dave grohl and the drummer. the rest of the band is so horrendously boring live.

i watch rhcp shows because each one is going to be different. the basic formula is going to be the same sure, but between all the improv's and the jams, it always leaves (me) wanting more

i allready posted that i voted RHCP however i was thinking about this and i can name/remember/sorta sing like 30 or so RCHP songs off the top of my head, i cannot name a single FOO song nor do i remember what they might sound like

Those sessions were amazingly productive, it's the best burst of creativity either one of these bands is ever going to produce. Would have been nice to have seen what could have come out of a proper followup in '93/94 with a sober Frusciante.

Other than the first album, most of the Foo Fighters albums don't hold up very well for me, the singles are good but it drops off from there. I'm more entertained by Dave Grohl as a frontman though, his singing isn't bad and he's funny in front of a crowd. Kiedis' act has worn thin with me, and I have a hard time overlooking the quality of his singing voice as they've featured it more and more.

I've never been a huge fan of either, but recently "The Pretender" has really blown my pants off. Such a great freaking ROCK song.

I think i bought the first Foo Fighters cd a long long time ago, i wasn't fooled into buying any further ones, everytime i hear them on the radio it's like meh, nothing stands out , RHCP on the other hand is a more unique sound

I dig both, but I would have to say I dig RHCP more since Flea rocks out with his cock out (sometimes literally) on the bass.
