What site are you using? Its a shame that alot of the easy money has left when the law went into effect. Its also a shame that its illegal here. 🙁

i haven't been following the online gambling legislation very closely.....so, is online poker banned in the U.S.?

online gambling is banned in the U.S.

On top of that, another bill just passed that forced alot of poker sites including partypoker.com to deny US players access.

I'm Canadian, so the new legislature doesn't affect me. I think that some sites (such as Pokerstars and Full Tilt) are basically ignoring (challenging?) the regulation. FWIW, I play on Pokerstars

Actually it does affect you, most players (well before the laws changed) were from the US. More players = more money to be made.

I don't know what other forums you frequent, but 2+2 forums is a great place for HH and tips/thoughts/etc.

True, but as of now Pokerstars is still allowing US players and I think much of the partypoker crowd has moved or will move.

BTW guys/gals its not new legislation that online gambling is illegal, the new legislation makes it illegal for your bank and cc company to deal with them, meaning before it was illegal but you could still use your accounts and such to gamble, whereas now it is not as easy as giving a cc or bank account number.

After playing Texas Holdem with play money online I've been so tempted to try and go for the real thing. Just wondering if you also went from Play Money to Real and how much different the play is between the two? Just seems to me that Play Money Players are too often way too loose and quite possibly the only reason I do well. 😀

Yes it is a big difference, and the gap becomes wider and wider between play styles the higher $ tables you go to.

Play money tables are actually funny, always everyone on the flop etc...

Ah, too bad, I could be rich otherwise! 😀

The low stakes tables are very similar to the free tables. As a matter a fact it can be quite frustrating to play a full ring game with 5+ fish, because you never know when your AK that hits top pair gets busted by some tool playing 73o that makes two pair on the river.

they haven't

semantics

It is illegal for poker sites to take money from US banks. Kind of effectively kills the market...

Actually in Washington yes they have. Yeah, I could probably bend around it by taking a laptop to Oregon and funneling my money thru offshore or netteller, but what a hassle.
