There have been issues with EOC stats in the last 24 hours.

Post from the EOC stats home page:

"Sorry for the downtime these past 24hrs. The datacenter had their main fiber trunk cut in not one, but TWO places!
It took the crews a while to find both breaks and they worked non-stop through the night re-splicing. I believe it was like a 150-200 bundle cable (x2 breaks), and re-splicing fiber is a slow and tedious process."

My hats off to the repair crew(s). :beermug:

Guide for installing FAH v7.6.21 on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS v1 - Folding Forum

That has a custom FAHViewer and python2 if you guys ever need it. Works great, usually although sometimes the viewer can lock up, but it won't affect the client.
Thanks! Deep link:

This guide covers among else the as yet unreleased port of FAHControl to Python 3.
I added this link to the brand new howto as well.

As I still have no shipping confirmation nor even an update on my missing parts, I've now refilled the loop just for the race. Currently, I'm circulating the coolant to check for any leeks. In the evening or tomorrow, whenever I find the time, I'll be up and running again, just in time for the race :)
Did you find any vegetables in the coolant? :tearsofjoy:

Another 5950x is going to be put in service today ! The 3080TI will be in it also. Hoping for mint 20 to work. The CPU is here, and the motherboard and heatsink are due today from Amazon(They have always been on time). The rest of the parts are sitting at the ready ! This will be number 4 !

I've got that exact combo working on Mint 20.3.
I just downloaded it ! What motherboard ? And memory ?

And I am down right now. Its will post, but the NVME drive is now not recognized. I have one coming tomorrow (thank you amazon)

I took aa look at the EOC web-site and it appears that the last outage message was back in Aug. This new outage is lasting, and I expect something else.

I have not looked lately, but yes, we are going to have to get our stats elsewhere or quit the challenge. The 17th was the last good day of stats.

I checked the FAH site itself for stats. The new stats are throwing 500 errors, saying "too many connections". The "classic" stats aren't working either. If neither of those APIs work, I don't see how anyone could get good stats.

WTH? Both stats.foldingathome.org and statsclassic.foldingathome.org require Javascript. I just tried to view them with links, to find out if stats gathering could be scripted. No way. :-(

I wonder where EOC pulled the stats (while it worked).
Edit: view-source:https://statsclassic.foldingathome.org/ is describing an API, based on HTTP GET requests and JSON responses.
Edit2: Using this API at statsclassic.foldingathome.org returns '403 Forbidden'. At stats.foldingathome.org only returns message that the API is deprecated and replaced by api2.foldingathome.org.
This latter looks interesting but doesn't work right now due to FAH's database outage.

apps.foldingathome.org is giving 'too many connections' errors or '502 bad gateway' at many of its pages too.

Only top-100 teams and top-100 users can be viewed at https://statsclassic.foldingathome.org/teams and https://statsclassic.foldingathome.org/donors, but they are showing stale data, i.e. are not being updated for now.

We are having DB troubles at F@H today. Points reporting will be delayed and web apps that rely on the main DB will offline until we get this sorted out.

Actually, I have 3 computers running Mint 20.2 and 2 running Mint 20.3.

The 5950X is an "old" build with unbuffered (non-registered) ECC RAM.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER.

So, it appears that we can process work, we just can't see the results. Is that a fair statement?

@biodoc, worst comes to worst, just keep folding during the challenge period and hope that the stats will show up during that week and take it from there?

So small change of subject from stats :)

it looks like I can step up my 3070ti to a 3080 12 gb, a 3080ti, or a 3090.

Does anyone know what the ppd difference between a 3080ti and a 3090 is?

Supposedly in linux they are very close. This reports a much wider discrepancy in windows but I would hazard a guess that is just due to number of submissions or something

I know I was seeing similar scores in windows between my 3080ti and my 3090

Any idea how the 3080 compares against the 3080ti? I think the 3090 doesn’t make sense looking at the numbers, but the 3080 12gb with the wider memory bus and small increase in cores may make sense compared to the ti.

edit to answer my own question.

This page:https://folding.lar.systems/gpu_ppd/overall_ranks

shows the 3080ti and 3090 at basically the same speed. The 3080 trails by about 500k ppd. I think I’ll put in the request to step up to the 3080 12gb
