Can't you get anything through your thick head ! Clinton was the sitting President
when the REPUBLICAN CONGRESS cut the Military budget. It was the result of
base closures that were initiated under the last days of Reagan's Administration,
coupled with the Conservative Direction continued under Daddy Bush.
Upon the completion of Gulf War-1, Daddy Bush and Congress decided that since our
military actions had so overwhelmed the Iraqi Army, and the Soviet Union had
disolved, we no longer needed all the bases and active military personel.
When Congress cut the budget, Clinton had two options, sign or veto.
Congress would have over-ridden a veto, so signing it was what he did.
Base Closures
Base Closure Act, 1990
The undeniable fact remains, however, that U.S. military requirements have been fundamentally altered. The end of the Cold War, combined with the growing urgency to reduce the Federal budget deficit, compels the United States to reduce and realign its military forces. To reduce the number of military installations in the United States, and to ensure the impartiality of the decision-making process, Congress enacted the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-510, as amended).
Signed by President George Bush on November 5, 1990
Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) - 2001
Introduced and enacted by George W. Bush in July, 2001.
Looks like it was the Bush boys, Daddy and Junior - along with their Conservative Congress and it's
Contract on AMerica that gutted the Miulitary, and postured to make it look like it was Clintons fault.
By the way, I'm a Republican - but not one of there neo-con traitors that has taken
over the party with their Extreme Right Wing Base Apeasment Propaganda.
The GOP is dumping on 70% of the countries population to kiss the ass of the
20% hard core fruitcakes that support them - take that 25 % away and thier strength
falls to a paltry 30% that are giving them a free ride with their empty rhetoric.
Their 10% moderate sevtion gets left out because the Religeous fanatics get their way.
Now that's what is unfair - in a democracy the majority rules, in the GOP money rules.
You don't give them enough bribes to buy their version of Free Speech.
