i really don't think the religious are objecting to same sex marriage because of the bromarriage issue.

I think they are objecting to same-sex marriage because same-sex marriage isn't a real marriage.

there's nothing stopping you from getting a hetero-sex marriage for benes right now (well, other than the sham marriage statutes, which would apply to same-sex marriages)

Other than for immigration please point to these statutes.

The only real thing keeping people from getting sham-marriages to get benefits from the government is the last vestiges of patriarchal morality. Of course the whole same-sex marriage movement is about destroying this morality. So don't be surprised when people then throw off said morality and get sham marriages.

When the behavior/action/event is only participated in by people in a protected class a valid issue is raised.

For sure. I couldn't agree more. But the law simply can't be subjectively applied willy nilly. There definitely is an issue with the law but I don't see how ruining this florist's livelihood is going to fix all that.

That issue seems to be at the feet of the legislators, not the AG's.

I'm saying it won't, for reasons that have everything to do with sexual attraction/orientation.

Where does it say that wheelchair ramps can only be used by those in wheelchairs? Are able-bodied people issued citations/fines for walking up/down wheelchair ramps? Able-bodied people generally don't choose to use wheelchair ramps because they are longer than using the stairs. Heterosexuals don't seek same-sex marriage because they're either not at all attracted to the same sex or aren't sufficiently attracted to it.

Government recognized marriage isn't about being attracted to someone. It is about wanting them to make end of life choices for you or allowing them to inherit your stuff tax free. Also the super awesome health care benefits.

Why are you trying to force your beliefs on marriage onto others :colbert:

EDIT: Oh and so they can visit you in the hospital. Because obviously there is no other way to allow people's friends to visit them than redefining a 1000+ year old institution.

And you wonder why a lot of people on here think you should be banned... it's for banality-bordering-on-trollishness like this.

I've been looking into this, and the only statues I can find apply to immigration only. If you know of others, I'm interested to know more.

I think its because I am so good at showing them how stupid what they really believe is.

Basically same-sex marriage supporters have been advocating that government recognized marriage should essentially be little more than a tax status for years.

Now you are throwing a fit because that exact same view has consequences.

EDIT: Or it could be that certain people think that anyone who disagrees with liberal ideology needs to be destroyed. See for example the case of the old lady florist whose business liberals are gloating over the chance to destroy.

If there were any others shouldn't Brittney Spears, Kim Kardashian, etc have gone to jail?

So would any couple that delayed their divorce, so that they could legally file that year's taxes under the married status.

And what about couples that opt not to divorce, but who don't "act" married, yet still take advantage of laws benefiting married couples?

I guess the whole "slippery slope" argument against same-sex marriage had some validity, even if it wasn't used correctly.

You're good at showing everyone else how stupid what you believe really is, not much else.

Basically same-sex marriage supporters have been advocating that government recognized marriage should essentially be little more than a tax status for years.

Some have, others have made it about other things.

Now you are throwing a fit because that exact same view has consequences.

If you think this is me "throwing a fit", you're not paying attention.

In any advocacy group there are zealots and pragmatists. I'm a pragmatist; there's no reason to "destroy" anyone. Human mortality is going to bring about the proper result.

Welcome to the world of liberals, where its OK to force your opinions on others as long as they are for minorities, but as soon as someone doesnt like them you sue their pants off. Its a PRIVATE BUISNESS, she can refuse to sell to blacks, gays, straights, lizards, aliens, rocks, and whomever she chooses to. If they dont like it go somewhere else, its called a free market for a reason, you are free to take your gay ass somewhere else and buy flowers from a place that is willing to serve you. Personally I would have no problem serving them, but thats because im a libertarian and not a liberal or conservative.

So now I am confused? Doesn't that mean you are really agreeing with my that the AG is overstepping things by trying to sue this woman into submission?

Yeah, the law disagrees.

As I've said a few posts ago, I can see a valid argument to bring the lawsuit and I can also see a valid argument to defend against it.

I neither approve nor disapprove of the lawsuit or the florist's defense.

Thank you for the civics lesson.

Holy shit! You must have worked really, really hard to string that post together. I only see one or two missing commas, but other than that, this must be the longest continual stream of non-regurgitated non-fluff to come from your fingers.

grats to you, trollbot. Did you blow a gasket, by chance?

:)

Your welcome.

The reason that sometimes my posts might have grammar mistakes is because I am very busy. I have a lot of important work to do and whenever I post here I am in a rush to finish quickly.

You also think a Vagina and nose are not real different in regards to law and rape.

Same sex marriage is about equality, PERIOD

Same-sex marriage is about redefining marriage to cater to liberal interest groups

No I think it is hypocritical to say that one-night-stands and friends-with-benefits are acceptable (aka liberal sexual morality) and then act like fingering a drunk girl is some kind of horrible wrong. Either sexual activity should be treated casually or it shouldn't be.

But I get how that point might be too advanced for you.

Guys, it's obvious that the florist is anti-freedom, and anti-American. She should be for all types of freedom, and liberty, and the ability for those guys to do what they want.

It's all Obama's fault, and the left-wing liberals' faults that this activist florist is trying to encroach on the private lives of these citizens!

GO BACK TO THE '60s YOU DIRTY ACTIVIST HIPPIE PROTESTER FLORIST!

Its not an advanced position, its wanting to ignore the reality of the law because it doesn't fit into your warped worldview.
