now this is horrible, when you dont even die...
Kurt McConnell, 14, was killed caught in a chipper while working with his father's tree-cutting crew in Gainesville. In Valrico, Joshua Avery, a 22-year-old tree trimmer, tried to free a stuck branch in a wood chipper with his foot and was pulled into the machine up to his waist.
I think he died. It says two people died, and then it mentions those two cases.

Up to your waste is too far to survive..

i'm so glad they didn't have a picture of what a wood chipper looks like. Right now all I have in my head is someone being chopped up, which is gruesome enough without having an actual picture of it.
Wood chipper

Its pretty gruesome to even think pieces of her flying through that chute.

Maybe I have watched too many "Forensic files" shows on TLC/Discovery...........but does anyone else who read the entire article from the link above find this at all suspicious???

"... Her co-workers ran from the home, hopped into a truck and left the scene, Gillen said. They called police shortly thereafter, but Gillen said he didn't know why the workers originally fled.

Contractors working across the street heard the wood chipper, which was still running. The machine was attached to a company truck.

"It was their first day here and we didn't hear them doing any work," said Larry Laxdal, who was working across the street. "We didn't hear any chain saws going all morning. Then, all of a sudden they all hopped in the truck and left. The only thing we heard after that was the chipper."

This plus her husband owns the company and it was her "first day" on a job. Odd methinks???!!!

I don't think so. What would you do if you realized that your bosses wife just fell into a woodchipper? I can't even imagine my reaction, BUT i am sure it wouldn't be RATIONAL. Accidents are related to training and experience. She probably didn't know what she was doing... possibly had on the wrong clothes, etc...

Something like that happend here in Oregon several years back.
A guy working in a mill got caught up in the feed chain on a HUGE chipper. He knew they couldn't shut it down in time, so he took off his wedding ring and tossed it to a co-worker and asked him to tell his wife he loved her.

What a way to go! 🙁
