Everything has to be a party issue...

Maybe he did it because the idea sucks?

No he did it because it was Obama, he uses Obama terms all the time. "Obama-math", Obamacrat, Obamatrain.

He didn't even run a campaign really against his opponent it was practically against Obama.

If you knew anything about the planning of the train here in cali you would know your statement to be ignorant.

Actually he is correct they are first building it between two small towns in the central valley, it will literally be billions spent on a train from nowhere to nowhere.

Fresno isn't exactly a small town. The city has 500,000+ population. If you count the adjoining city of Clovis, then that number jumps up another 70,000. Merced is pretty small though. Bakersfield is smaller than Fresno, but still comes in a pretty sizable 330,000. Its a "test" track being built that will be used to work out the kinks for the more expansive track to come.

Fresno has several things going for it.
- Lots of open (farm) land in the surround area.
- Relatively flat terrain with relatively small number of bodies of waters.
- Centrally located to all the big population densities (LA County, Orange County, San Diego County, Silicon Valley/Bay Area, and Sacramento County) in California.
- Weather-wise, it scorching hot and freezing cold, but no snowfall, just rain and not much of it due to the two mountain ranges.

Amtrak already has Tampa-Orlando train service.
If they could add more frequent service, that might be a good idea.

I suspect there isn't very frequent because NOBODY USES IT NOW. Want more empty trains running? I don't understand why people are looking for a solution to a problem that DOESN'T EXIST. The problem with traffic in Orlando and Tampa are people who LIVE there and commute within their cities. Very few people travel before Orlando and Tampa for work. If you are going between the cities for pleasure its usually fine as there is a large open interstate between them with a 75mph speed limit. Takes about an hour an 15 minutes. Why would I get on a train to do that?

They have one train a day and one bus run a day. A 10AM departure from Orlando will not attract commuters

Train is 2+ hrs.

If they had the demand, they would increase the # of trips. No demand vs auto (speed?)
