To be fair, as I discussed with my wife, the way that document is written it really only talks about minors that are undergoing conversion treatments. It doesn't speak about minors simply identifying as trans having to be reported etc. That being said, it's just as horrific and CLEARLY a slippery slope - one that is guaranteed to slide quickly and horribly.

I also think that it's perfectly safe move for him politically. We've seen time and time again how the GOP leaders and their dumb ass followers just make a crack into something like this and then their true colors show (and grow) and it becomes even more horrific of shit show.

I hate these people with the power of a million suns. Ironically, I hate that they hate so much. Their minds are twisted.
The way I read it is that they're considering youth trans healthcare "child abuse", and that's what they would be required to report (so, if a kid is on puberty blockers or HRT).
Not sure if that's what you're referring to as "conversion treatments", that's generally used to refer to "conversion therapy" to pray/abuse the queer out of them.

This seems ill advised. Not just from a policy perspective in what he's putting forth is monstrous but from a political perspective.

I think there's still an 'ick' factor with trans people among a lot of the population that makes them not want trans people in bathrooms or whatever else and so it's probably safe to demagogue against that. I am not sure people would think similarly about having kids taken from their parents for being trans, requiring people report them to the police, etc. That seems like it carries a significant risk of overreach and causing a backlash the other way.
This is literally brown shirts coming after trans kids. What next? State run "re-education" camps?

Yeah - I totally crossed my words there (and my wife would kill me if she saw that)

The order reads that any sort of "gender transitioning" procedures (including surgeries or puberty blockers etc) is considered child abuse and the DFPS would swoop in on parents/doctors/nurses. It doesn't read that if a minor is identifying as trans and the parents/doctors/nurses are simply supporting it they will be subject to ramifications.

Again, I am NOT defending this bullshit order. It's pure bigotry and hatred (calling cards of the GOP).

Seems like a natural escalation of our political divide.
I agree that it is very dangerous and unwanted, but that would require sanity and we are chalk full of crazy now. As conservatives are canceled, so too do they desire to cancel others.

Yeah, conservatives are really getting cancelled these days. They only own the SCOTUS, most state legislatures, most governor's mansions and due to make historic gains in the next 2 years.

Stop with the both sides talk, you're smarter than that.

How about introducing a Bill for all Texas public/government buildings to remove all wheelchair ramps and handicapped stalls. I think that is fair. I mean, what's the deal with those people wanting their own accommodation?

I think it's discrimination against the abled.

If you don't jab and twist the knife in the asshole where it really hurts, he'll never come around to humanity.

that would be pretty brilliant. insane, but also brilliant.

I think it should be limited to just returning buildings to the way they were originally constructed in order to protect history which is very important to Republicans.

One of my closest friends is a social worker and foster parent who works with and takes in Trans teens in the foster care system. Their family is in an absolute panic right now. They have like 5 foster kids (and one blood child) all in various stages of transitioning. What are they going to do? These kids have enough problems with out the fucking government coming after them.

Hope they live somewhere that the DA refuses to prosecute I guess. This state's basically monstrous level of carelessness is only outdone by its politically motivated malice against those who are least able to defend themselves.

In your mind there is no equivalence, but that is immaterial. What matters is how they feel about it, and the need to drop all pretense and push for control. Not just holding office, but to actually make use of and wield the power of office. And I did describe it as an escalation. No doubt boycotts and reciprocation WILL follow. One good turn deserves another after all. Many here express hatred and want it acted upon. Perhaps it is mutual.

Putin feels aggrieved, doesn't mean we humor him.

This is a pretty poor argument.
If we resist their attempts at destroying the things we love then it is our fault that they destroyed them because that hurt their feelings.

The school yard bully tactic. Stop hitting yourself.

They have no concept of what Freedom is. Even if their worldview was correct about Gender, they have no Right to deny Humans these things. These are choices made by Individuals, not fucking Governments.

Hope they live in Bexar, Dallas, Harris, or Travis counties.

Unfortunately they live in Collin. I think they work in Dallas though.

For those that are not around here:
Bexar County is where downtown San Antonio is. Has about 2 million people.
Dallas County is where downtown Dallas is. Has about 2 million people.
Harris County is where Houston is, it is huge and about 4 millions people living there.
Travis County is where downtown Austin is, and where Greg Abbot lives. It has about 1 million people living there.

So all 4 of the large cities, and about one third of the total population of Texas, are not participating in Greg's Trans Open Season.

Jackasslass is a consummate piece of shit, you should expect no less from the likes of that transhuman turd.

Coming soon to FL radio stations: Next up is a song called “What’s Going On” by Marvin ( Redacted ).

What happens if they find out Greg Abbot is just his first two names and his real last name is Yancy?

How about instead we investigate fundamentalist evangelical parents of gay children for the abuse they're inflicting?

Seriously—given the precedent some states are establishing, why can’t every blue state investigate every single evangelical who sent their kids to “don’t be gay” Bible camp?

If Texas can flagrantly violate HIPAA I’m sure blue states don’t mind treading on failing mental health services provided under cover of “religion”.
