This conservatives want to hang their hat on to protect kids, yet they do nothing about mass shootings in schools.

It's also the same party that fought the existence of school lunch programs since I can remember.
They only want to protect kids from bad things. Guns aren't bad, being gay is bad--well, it's not bad, but you can't be gay until you're an adult. Or talk about being gay until you're an adult. And if all those dead school children were proper Christians, they'd go to heaven, so what's the big deal anyway? Their parents should be happy they got to heaven before they had a chance to be gay. If anything, we need more school shootings to shepherd the children into Christ's loving arms before they get woke-ified.

I'm so confused, I thought that the SCOTUS said corporations are people.

The corporations were once the only firewall against such insane bigoted legislation becoming law. Remember when business and corporations shut down then Indiana governor Mike Pence when Pence wanted to pass his religious bigotry legislation attacking gays? But these days the corporations and business owners just look the other way. Of if a corporation does take a stand, its a stand taken on one leg with not changing any minds. So if the corporations are now ok with legislating bigotry, there goes the firewall. There goes the ballgame.

Kids sometimes want to talk. Why do you insist on trying to turn this into Perversion when it is simply about Life.
Kids can talk and bring the subject up. Read the actual language of the bill and don't depend on the echo chamber gas lighters to do the research for you.

I coming to the conclusion that part of the states motivation is to make the state hostile to any non-authoritarian and drive them out.

If they turn the state into a hell-hole and drive out enough people it’ll be easy to stay in power with the remaining right who just care that the right people are being hurt more.

It is more fundamental than that.

Society has turned from belief in society, and towards partisan belief. Towards identity towards a party, or a thing... like Trump. It is the spread of totalitarianism here at home. For no other reason than THIS is human nature, the world over. It is what we do to ourselves when the believe in a process, a system, is replaced by partisanship. Truth, logic, reason. None of it matters anymore, there are only fighters waging a war. Today it is with words and policy. Tomorrow it WILL be with force and violence.

Simply human nature. And it is horrific to the bitter end.

Just so we are clear though, in a vacuum, it is not human nature. Society only turns this way when hidden forces (to most of society) poison society with their greed. Societies prefer to be transparent and to make laws that stop or prevent the poisoning from happening. Society only turns when those safeguards are defeated.

It’s an important distinction because one is preventable and fixable and the other is not.

Btw, I created this thread which is related to your topic. How do you think it’s aged?

I have, and the wording of the bill is intentionally vague enough that it will be abused from day 1.

Here is what the bill actually says:
Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.

It will immediately need to be tested to decide what 'Classroom instruction' means, and what is 'age appropriate or developmentally appropriate' is going to be completely up to 'state standards' which is a 'whatever I say it is' wording.
Basically this bill was written to ensure that pretty much anyone can file a lawsuit for practically anything they don't like, and that individual teachers would have to shoulder the burden of at least some of those suits.
If I was a teacher in Florida I would be looking at moving out of state or getting a different job.

Yeah, you could drive a truck through the vagueness of those (and "third parties").

Oh, and the school in question is also on the hook for any legal defense of said infraction as well. So, a backdoor way to defund schools as well.

And then if another parent doesn't feel it was discussed in an appropriate fashion, they can sue the school district. Sounds like a win-win for... the lawyers, I guess.
Read the legislation. Why are the Progressheviks picking the gender and sexuality of small children as the hill they want die on? Probably because they can't talk small kids into taking hormone treatments so they can fell better about themselves or easier to be kid touchers.

I prefer to express my opinion at the polls.
Numerous news sources and organizations, both for and against this bill/law, have paraphrased/distorted/stretched the truth of what it actually is/says.
Just so everyone is on the same page, here is the final version of the bill.
This is the version signed into law and this version only is what should be discussed, rather than info from Op Eds.
Please read it.

So, I posted the relevant bit in the thread already. I quoted the exact wording of the signed law.
But, it pretty much says what everyone has been saying it says. If you don't like what a teacher says, and can even vaguely link it to gender or sexuality, you can sue that teacher.
This is a law designed to be abused. There is no other reason to keep the terminology so vague.

Oh, are they the ones that wrote this law? What evidence is there to support a need for this law? Where are these small children taking hormone treatments? Oh, yes, they're probably in a non-existent pizza parlor basement. Don't worry, chief, I'm sure JFK Jr. will show up to rescue you someday, and you can go and be his sweet little hubby.

It's the same bullshit logic banning CRT. Create a law banning something that doesn't exist, then defend it with more lies.

Were there any schools openly discussing gender identity in grades K-3? I'm taking a wild guess the answer is no.

Yet, try passing a law banning guns in schools, gender bullying in schools, racism in schools, things that really exist and you will get silence from crazy right wingers.

The only thing this law does is state a vague generality on which teachers are frightened into remaining silent.

Here is a great editorial on this.

“In essence, the Legislature, education commissioner and governor are imposing private-school dogma, religious beliefs and the values of exclusion on public education. Keeping future generations ignorant and unquestioning is the goal.

It’s another move to weaken public education in Florida, constantly being diminished by content and funding decisions made by people running the government who also profit from public investment in private education initiatives.”

Sums the law up well.
