That was in Toowoomba.

News story here

I live on a hill and am not affected by flooding. For the last 20 years, property developers have been building in flood plains. This is what you get.

I am thinking about going to Rockhampton to work once it all settles down. I would be busy for a year

The image in the OP - that would be awesome fun to kayak on! Had a similar running river nearby at flood stage - one of my favorite kayaking trips I've ever had.

Poor China, I hear they are running out of coal..
Words on the street for the last couple of weeks, China, Japan, and South Korea steel mills had to source new suppliers for Apr of 2011 thanks to the flooding in Australia.

My Canadian coal stock has gone up more than 30% since the start of the flood.

My town is due to go underwater tonight or tomorrow
I hope it is not Brisbane.

A good friend of mine is visiting family in Brisbane at the moment, and she isn't due to comeback to Canada till the 16th of Jan.

The video in the op is Toowoomba. Which is west of Brisbane.

That mass of water is rushing down the Brisbane river and it is due to break its banks tonight or tomorrow.

They did this in some desert areas in Arizona when I was a kid. Not smart.
I feel bad for folks that move in from out of the area and are not familiar with the desert's weather.
