Suggestions on how to prevent flat tire spots on car stored in cold garage for 5 months?

If I do nothing, will they eventually get round again after driving it around for a while?

probably nothing to do but move it occasionally if it's a classic car unless you put it up on stands.

if it's a modern car with radial tires, they should go back to normal after some driving.

Inflate to sidewall; move car occasionally. I've parked vehicles OUTSIDE, IN THE SUN for at least 6 months at a time and found no such flat spots. Flat spots can be a problem, but the easiest way to avoid them is to raise the tire pressure. Since you won't be driving the vehicle, inflating them maybe even 20 PSI above sidewall will be just fine to ensure that you don't get any flat spots.

Inflating to sidewall will cure your acne too.

That's just about the strangest advice I've ever seen given here. I'd say not to worry about the tires at all, a ceased muffler bearing is a much bigger concern.

erm, fleabag is actually right in this respect. i'd leave the tires at about 50psi.

that's what many automakers do at the factory. i've personally seen cars sit for 2-3 months on a dealer lot without getting PDI'd, and the tires are fine.
