1) Select Best Buy stores have done a regional pricematch to CompUSA's AR price of $79.99 on the Maxtor 80GB 7200HDD. Best Buy has dropped the price to $79.97 without rebates. You may want to verify YOUR local Best Buy's price because with these types of REGIONAL price matches they may change the price from one day to the next.

2) The tag scan is located in FW.
3) Price Match at Staples B&M to $79.97.

4) There are two $30 Rebates ONE Staples and ONE Maxtor. As has been discussed in SimpsonHomerJ's thread send a copy to the Staples rebate, and if the deny you call in and explain that there were two rebates and you were instructed to send a copy to Staples.

YMMV. Your bestbuy might not have it for $79.99. It was originally 139.99-60.00 (MIR). Some stores took off the MIR and selling it for 79.99

called up my local BB, said it was 79.97 off the top of his memory, then checked to make sure and it was 139, said the price was only yesterday and they bumped it up today, called up 6 more stores and theyre all 139 with the MIR....oh well, man I got so excited when that first guy said 79.97...

Just got back from Staples and the deal is still on !!!!!!

I successfully PM'd Best Buy for 2 drives.

Used 30 off 150 coupon....

Here's the kicker - 3 rebates per drive print out from the register.........who knows if they will all work but I'll assume the 2 previously reported will...

so my cost was 75.00 (110 % price guarantee) * 2 = ~150 - 30 = 120 - 120 rebates = FREE!!!!

I think I might have to go back for 2 more.

I noticed that there are two different offer numbers even though they go to the same address. I was told once or twice before by rebate centers, that if they have different offer numbers, the rebates should be honored. It's only when the offer number is the same that you won't get both.

I bought one today (Columbus, OH). Used a 20 off 100 coupon (bought some other stuff). It printed out 3 rebates for me too. However, 2 are exact duplicates. So there are though 2 different rebates on this. You can find them on staplesrebates.com too... just notice that there's also a staples.com ONLY rebate listed.

I don't think it would work because both rebates need original UPC. So.... better be careful.

On staples rebate form said purchase at STAPLES.COM only i guss B&M will not work.
At BB they have the drive for $139 PM to Staples or whatever to get another 10% off. Also $60 MIR is good till 09-07-2002.

Are you guys sure about your price calculations, price matching, etc? Per the Staples policy they apply any rebates to the price they are matching. ie. The BB price is $140-$60 BB rebate=$80. Staples price is $130-$30 Staples rebate=$100. Therefore the Staples sell price should be $110, apply $30 Staples rebate=$80 to match BB final price. Factor in the 110% Staples price guarantee...Staples advertised after rebate price of $100 vs BB after rebate price of $80= $20 x 110%= $2. That makes the Staples out the door price $110-$2=$108. Less $30 rebate from Maxtor, less $30 rebate from Staples brings the final after rebate price to $48. I have not found the 3rd rebate that has been mentioned. I have personally been thru a similiar situation with Staples and price matching. Has anyone been able to actually get the prices mentioned earlier in the thread? It appears that Spanky got a PM from a rep that did not fully understand the policy. Great deal!

Well.....I just showed them the scan of the bestbuy tag that I found at largepurse........they didn't call to verify even though I had indeed verified price and availability at a nearby BB. My local BB did not have the 79.97 price but the next closest one did......i suggest trying a few different ones and go from there.

I guess this deal is out of my region considering that I don't have a Staples within 100 miles of me (Chicagoland). Why is that anyway? I look at a Staples location map and there isn't one Staples anywhere near Milwaukee or Chicago.
