Would this thing function as a proxy server in order to route broadband internet to multiple computers too? Also is it nessacary to pay extra for a domain name or whatever if you intend to host a webstie on it or provide email?

Does this thing have a VGA port? If so, would it be possible to load Windows or Linux on it and use it as a regular el cheapo PC?

I went down to my local North Dallas store since it is about a mile away. The computer showed 2 and they were both found in the defective cage - going back to the manufacturer. Bummer!

The LCD appears to be serial... woooo! gets sweeter by the minute..

Does that mean it has two (2) serial ports?

Called several stores in my area:
no, no, no, no,maybe but i dont feel like checking (wtf??), no, yes!

of course its 30mi away but i will just have to go after work... looks like a cool product, well worth the $100 imo.

Man, all Central Ohio stores show 0 in stock. The Columbus Superstore told me they had 2 yesterday, and their employees bought both of them! I really need one of these for my small business. If anyone buys one of these and gets buyer's remorse, let me know! Thanks......

Just picked up the last one from the Detroit CompUSA, I called around before going there and there didn't seem to be any others in the Detroit area. (Novi, etc)

Hopefully the one I got works, it was in the back and the box looks like it's seen better days. Also, there was a clearance sticker on it that said $199.99, and the fellow tried to ring it up that way. Make sure you tell them to just scan the barcode instead of keying it in as clearance.

in the box?
there is a stand, manual and CD w/serial code. I havent had much time to try stuff on it.. but I can tell you that delete on post takes you to the AMI bios screen. :) Lpt, 1 serial outside, one inside, 3 audio, 2 usb.. it's just an flexATX pc :)

No luck in Fresno, Bakersfield, or Modesto. I called Fresno directly, but had some central corporate guy on the phone check availability in Bakersfield and Modesto.

Good luck!

Score two in Irving, TX. Actually I saw these two last week for that price, thought it was a good deal and struggled and walked away with empty hands.

Went back today and claimed both just because someone posted on anandtech and if i don't take them quickly someone else will. The plan is to sell one on ebay to cover the cost of the other one I keep for myself. If not sold I have two weeks to return them.

D@mn, why does my area have to be out of stock??? I've been really wanting to get a mail server running on my home network, something other than Exchange since I use that at work - this would have been a perfect solution and a nice way to mess around with Linux for the first time as well.....

Anyone interested in trading their GW500 if they found one?? I have lots of business software, some misc hardware items, and would consider a partial cash/hardware/software swap....

Called an Atlanta area store, they told me one would be waiting at register 5. Arrived 1/2 hour later to snatch this great deal, and it is not there! After some pestering I was told the two they had were defective. Sounds like a scheme to keep the good deals for themselves. Would have loved to of had this one for my home network, it is so annoying only being able to check email on the kitchen computer.
