It is *VERY* well known that apple just rebrands pioneer's discs. Why such a huge discrepancy? And if one did exist, you'd expect it to be going the other way . . .

I knew that apple rebrands pioneer drives but I didn't know they did that with the media also.

I just got my Sony DVD burner, please give me some advices so i can avoid some coaster 🙂

what program to use for backup PS2 or Xbox games??

Can you burn vcd movie files onto a dvd-r disc but using the vcd format?? so i can have like 4 movies in a disc, and i can use that disc on other dvd players?

thanx

My Toshiba SD-R5002 burns these Ritecs at 2X

Guess I got luck, but heads up, I got the drive for $189 to my door at Xtreme Gear.
Turns out this Toshiba is pretty dang versatile.

Yep, they do both. If you got some apple discs around, there are programs over at cdrlabs.com that will ID them.

Hey has anybody tried the Princo Platinum/White 1x DVD-RW media? A 10-pack at hypermicro.com is $14.50 🙂

I just bought a Cendyne DVR-105 4x DVD-R/RW drive (rebadged Pioneer) but the 4x DVD-RW media is kinda expensive

I've heard nothing but bad things about Princo, and nothing but good things about Ritec. After some of the flaking stores I've read there is no way I'd buy Princo ...

I just bought some Samsung media at $64 shipped for a cakebox of 50. I will report how they burn hopefully by the end of the weekend. I think they are a new product because I have found only one place that is selling them for $84 for 50. Of course I can't mention where I got my good deal because it is against rules.

Yeah it looks like I'll be staying away from Prinkos media. I went to the DVD FAQ and it said that basically as far as blank DVD media is concerned, you get what you pay for. So now I'm looking for some Ritek DVD-RW...

And Codewiz what are you going to do with all those disks? hahahaa 🙂

Trust me, you can go through DVD-R's just as fast as CD-R's, especially if you "backup" DVD's.

I've gone through 70 DVD-Rs in the past 3 weeks. I know a guy who has gone through over 400. He sells them to 'friends'

proves that it might be bogus data... who knows how these tests were performed...

Guys,

I have not read everything that you all said... But, am I wrong to think that $0.56 each which mean if you have a bundle of 100 it should be $56 and not $99.xx?????? O, and they say free shipping so what's up with that??? I don't think it cost $40 for shipping when it say free shipping.

Anyone have explaination?

I was confused at first too. The 59 cents is the cost of the dvd-r blanks. Then you pay like 34 cents for the case. It says it in the description.

I use Princo Platinum/white DVD-rw and have no problem at all in Cendyne (Pioneer A04) and in Apex and CYberhome DVD players. 1x though. But so cheap, I dont need DVD-r, just use RW.

Meritline has DVD Pro DVD-RW for as low as $0.89 (200 qty). Only $1.15 (25 qty). I think that's a deal...unless the DVD Pro brand is crap. Anyone tried it on a Pioneer 105?

The Riteks only burn @ 1x in my Cendyne/Pioneer 105 using DVDXCOPY. My set top (Toshiba) seems to like them though.🙂

Yup. 03 = 1x on A05 . But, they still play great .

If you are on the west coast, you can get 25 pack spindles for $19.99 ( .80c each) without having to do a bulk buy. I bought a 50pack, they were all Ritek03's - YMMV.

If longetivity is a concern, the general consensus is that Ritek is as cheap as you can go safely. DVD-Pro is worse then princo. How good princos are is up for debate, but the general opinion is starting to lean towards crap, especially considering the little stunt they pulled with their 2x media.

make sure to stay away from plasmon ... ive used both princo and plasmon. if you think princo is bad ... watchout for plasmon garbage.

I know how you feal. The absolute cheapest DVD's I trust for data are Tayio Yuden's. I still haven't gotten a good answer as to why they are $2 CHEAPER then the next nearest high quality media. Hope that my trust in these was not a mistake . . .

For my DVD backups though, I just cannot justify $2 a disk. That's what all my Ritek's are for 🙂

Just put in my order at PC Club...works out to be about $0.98/DVD-R. Better deal than the Microcenter deal. Still probably gonna look into the DVD-RWs at Meritline.
