Most places have either increased the prices or don't have ritek in stock. The best I could find was $79 for 100 (don't know about shipping) at www.rima.com . Anyone knows of a better deal ?

Looks as if the resellers have emptied thier 2x Riteks. Even shop4tech is now is selling 4x media. Oh well. My 100 pack should last me for a bit.

I got a NEC burner from Dell, which is not on the compatibility list. Does that mean they won't work at all with my drive?

get one of those sample packs and try them out. It's the best way instead of buying a huge spindle and getting stuck with it when you make coasters.

I have a DVR-105 and the Princos will only burn at 1x using latest version of Nero.

I just got the DVD-R's I ordered from PC Club and they burn at 2X using the A05 firmware 1.00. When I put the disc in from PC Club it gave me the option of buring at 2X. My other DVD-R's I bought wouldn't let me burn at 2X, it didn't even give me the option of burning at 2X. I have successfully burned a DVD at 2X using the PC Club ones.

I will be the first to confirm that the discs from PC Club work on PS2. I burnt Vice City and played it for 30 minutes and everything seems to work fine. I even burned the game at 2X using my A05 burner. If anyone is planning on getting some disc from PC Club make sure to get the ones with the light purple bottom as they seem to be Sony. The ones with the dark purple bottom are Ritek so if you want to burn 2X on the A05 get the disc with the light purple bottom.

I bought some generic riteks from allmedia outlet that I'm using with dvdxcopy. Depending on which version of dvdxcopy I use, some of those will play on my AD1500 and some won't. So it could depend on what application he's using also. I'm on the east coast and need some fairly quick. Does anyone know how their shipping is. Do they get your order out pretty quick? I wonder if these will burn at 2X on my Cendyne DVR-105 (rebaged pioneer A05)?

Just a note. The Pioneer's won't burn the latest Cendyne 2x's at 2x for a VERY GOOD REASON. Cendyne stole someone else's hash code for 2x burning in order to allow them to be burned at 2x. They are not rated at 2x for a VERY GOOD REASON -- my expirence with Cendyne at 2x is lots of errors on the outside of the disc.

SUPERMEDIASTORE (4 miles away)
222 S 5th Ave.
La Puente, CA 91746

I've ordered from these guys 3 times... sometimes 7-10 days to get my order but never any other problems...

Maybe the same family runs all the businesses or something? Major bulk purchases and then they can each focus on a different corner of the internet - ebay, yahoo stores, MSN, forums, computer shows, etc...

Wow, it's like the dark ages out there. I can't believe how much trial and error and quality testing and firmware upgrading you guys are having to do just to get your burners to work. Lets dig up this thread in a few years when all the DVD-R media no matter what it is seems to work at 16x for 4-7 cents a disc.

Best Buy currently has a 15pk of Verbatim DVD-R's for $45 which is a lot cheaper then they have been.

I know Maxell does not press their own DVD's. Any idea what factory these discs come from? I ask cause I noticed that Tayio Yuden DVD-R's are *DIRT CHEAP* ($2.10 in quantites of 180, shipped) for supposedly high quality media, and I am curious who is rebranding them.

You know, I just noticed something VERY odd about that list

>>
5. Apple - 73% DVD-R pass rate
12. Pioneer - 58% DVD-R pass rate
<<

It is *VERY* well known that apple just rebrands pioneer's discs. Why such a huge discrepancy? And if one did exist, you'd expect it to be going the other way . . .
