Five Guys?

Saw one is opening around here soon, was wondering if they're any good? Anything special about them I should know (ala in-n-out secret menu)?

If you are a huge in-n-out fan, you probably won't like them. It seems that people only like one or the other.

No secret menu at 5 Guys. They have all their addons listed on the menu and you order it exactly how you like it.

I recommend getting the cajun fries.

Prolly won't be doing the cajun thing, since I can't stand any heat spice.

Cajun fries are delicious, but i dont recommend getting them IMMEDIATELY when Five Guys opens a new restaurant..

The first few times I got them (all within 3 wks of their grand opening) They were either WAAY over-spiced, or almost plain

We’ve got one now and it’s like a ½ mile from my house. I still haven’t been but I plan on going soon.

What should I get?

Five Guys is awesome. We had Fatburger around here, but they were terrible. The Five Guys stuff is very good. The one bacon cheeseburger I got was so huge I probably could have killed a horse with it.

Five Guys is the taste equivalent of buying low-grade, high fat beef from Wal-Mart and cooking it on a George Foreman grill, and then putting all the grease drippings back on it.

good stuff, fries too... though with the grease I can't eat it more than once a week... and this is coming from someone who could eat Taco Bell every other day.

Skip the fries, they destroy them with salt. Focus on getting an awesome burger and if you are still hungry... get another one...

get a burger with cheese and bacon and then the veggies you want. IIRC their normal burger is a 2 patty one, if you arent that hungry you can order a 1 patty one.

they also have hotdogs and they are also excellent

Get the "small" order of fries.
Yep, this is about the only "secret" to Five Guys. Small order of fries is more than enough for two. Otherwise, get a bacon cheeseburger loaded up with everything you want and then feel greasy for a few hours.

Great burgers. I personally think they're similar to In-N-Out in terms of texture and taste (i.e. not gourmet burgers but extremely tasty fast food burgers). They're also pretty greasy. I can easily point out a five guys brown bag by the amount of grease leakage through the bag due to the fries.

I like the fries. The burgers are on the better end of the chain burger spectrum, but there are local grease pits in my area that throw better burgers in the garbage for not being good enough and I'm sure there are some in every area.
