just saw this story browsing the news. I'm glad they were found, i just hope they're
mentally fit after such an ordeal. Will be interesting to get the full story once they get
home.

Holy crap! Surviving almost a year on rainwater and sea birds and fish...that's unreal.

I'm just guessing this may be the longest survival yet. Kind of gives you an idea of
just how huge the ocean is. I'm amazed they were able to sustain enough water consumption
over such a long period of time.

i can't imagine how they managed to avoid land &/or other ships for 11 months..

Anyway, reading the article they just know it's more than three months, since none of them understand each other ;)

They were in a boat - it probably has a cabin, and if not they probably had some kind of shade they could set up.

it was a 400 HP oceangoing vessel, this isn't a little fishing boat like you see on lakes and rivers around here.

A 25ft fiberglass boat is NOT an oceangoing vessel, it is a little fishing boat!

This is incredible.

Hehehe...on my flight back to NYC Sunday, our copilot's name was Jesus Somethingorother. I mentioned to my gf that the plane probably had a bumpersticker that said "Jesus is my copilot." :p

that's just amazing, even if was just over 3 months that's still a long time to be stranded in the ocean.

"We ate raw sea gulls, ducks and fish. We ate everything raw... any fish that came near the boat we grabbed it and gulped it down," Señor Vidaña told Televisa, adding that it rained nearly every day during their crossing saving them from death by thirst."

"It was nine months and nine days," he said. "One of the guys on the boat has a watch that shows the months and the days."

They set out for a two or three-week trip without a radio or a mobile phone, but enough drinking water to survive a few days and some lemons.

and there lies their dumbass mistake. No... don't bring any kind of communication equipment, just some lemons and a bloody bible will see you through. Congrats for surviving, but it's their own fault... bunch of tards.

If they didn't bring lemons they probably would have died of scurvy. That was the question I was going to ask.

It just occured to me...if there were seagulls and ducks to eat, doesn't that mean there was land nearby?
