It just occured to me...if there were seagulls and ducks to eat, doesn't that mean there was land nearby?

Birds often live part of the year far out at sea, ie looking for and trailing fishing boats etc.

Holy crap! Surviving almost a year on rainwater and sea birds and fish...that's unreal.

They probably devised a fresh water drip system using a plastic tent like covering over sea water. The water evaporates, rolls down the inside of the covering into some sort of catch. Its not fast, but with a 25ft boat they may have been able to create a large one to augment rain water supplies.

Actually, no, they wouldn't have died from scurvy since they ate everything raw. There's plenty of vitamins in bird guts and such.

"Two of them jumped overboard a few days into their ordeal,"

ahemm... or got eaten... :p

After a little game of luck of draw I'm sure they really *tried* to jump out...

i dont think so. that show on Discovery "I shouldnt be alive" had a british man and woman who drifted for about a year in a inflatable life-raft that had the canopy. they survived by drinking the liquid out of fish eyeballs for their water.

Well, they had Jesus with them.

Hehehe...on my flight back to NYC Sunday, our copilot's name was Jesus Somethingorother. I mentioned to my gf that the plane probably had a bumpersticker that said "Jesus is my copilot." :p

What was that stupid movie they just made where the guy and the chick got left behind when they were out on a diving trip?
