Fish Oil

Hola,

Sometime ago I remember visiting this thread and seeing somebody post a website where fish oil was of good quality and cost effective.

Can anyone suggest some?

Thanks

Go to Bodybuilding.com and look for optimum nutrition fish oil, I know there are cheaper brands out there but this is still pretty cost effective and I hold the company in high regard.

Darn good question and you're wise to ask it.

Lots of people have gotten rich manufacturing vitamins and supplements out of their garage. And, a lot of vitamins and supplements are made in China, a fact that when you read the link below, is something people need to be very aware of.

Rule of thumb: the only good quality products are those that are 'pharmaceutical grade'. Consumer Reports, one of America's most trusted product reviewers (they allow no advertising on their site or in their magazine), once gave high marks to Costco's glucosamine chondroitin. High marks meaning that the contents listed on the label were found and verified in the pills they tested. There were other brands they tested that did not have the content stated on the label.

That's just the way it is in the vitamin supplement industry, the scammers are out there and probrably more prevalent than most people are aware of. We're talking fraudulent business practice, plain and simple. But since the content of their products are not tested and verified by the FDA, they can get away with deceiving the public.

Note that glucosamine chondroitin is no longer the magic pill everyone thought it was when it first came out in the mid to late 90's. So if you have joint problems, do your research, consult Consumer Reports (you can trust Consumer Reports) and check the links below.

I'm very familiar with Bodybuilding.com. With all due respect to Finns14, I would not trust Bodybuilding.com's products, I would not purchase any of their products. What's a fitness minded person to do? Get your fish oil from whole food sources, ditto for vitamins and minerals.

Good luck.

thanks for the info.

When you say get the stuff from whole food sources...do you talk about a place like Whole Foods and Wild Oats?...though technically the same nowadays.

I have bought in the past norwegian cod liver oil...which is supposed to be the good stuff.

I'm pretty sure he meant actual food.

Cod liver oil is good stuff. If you can find it, get some Enteric coated fish oil. The coating lets it pass through the stomach easier, so you don't have to take as much. (More reaches the small intestine, better absorption).
