First ZR1 sold at a bit of a markup

From the Detroit Auto Scene today, A dealer in Montana bought the first production Corvette ZR1 for a cool $1,000,000. He's adding it to his personal inventory of 43 corvettes. The final numbers were 638 hp, 0-60 in 3.4s top speed of 205.

If the first production one was sold for 1 million, what was the one that sold when I was at the Barrett Jackson Auction?

a C4 ZR1? they built a ZR1 in the C4 chassis, it was a bit wider with upgraded suspension and a duel overhead cam motor.

That one was the Mercury Marine engine, its the only vette I know of that didn't have a GM pushrod engine in it. This was the brand new hot off the line supercar.

Also designed in conjunction with Lotus.

How much of the money spent on one of those goes to charity?

"All of the proceeds from the sale benefited The United Way, and everything over the $99,999 list price of the ZR1 will be tax deductible."

Ah
I guess the owner of the dealership needed to get his tax base down.

The guy also bought the 3rd made Corvette ever (the first 2 were held by GM) for $1 million the same day he bought the ZR1. He's apparently plenty rich. Anyway I was responding to the guy that said he should have bought something else for that much. The money he spent goes to charity, so who cares what his motives were? He obviously could afford a garage full of Ferrari's, but I don't think Ferrari is donating the proceeds to charity.

To all the people saying he should buy a ferrari... over his dead body. He is a die hard GM fan.
