First trip to Vegas in a month, talk to me about stuff to see/do/eat.

Neither of us really care about gambling. I'm sure I'll spend a little while wasting some money, but this is definitely not a primary concern.

Might try to get out for a round of golf, but the greens fees for Feb are

Will be with my wife, so seeing a show or two would be great. Do not care even slightly for Vegas "standards" like Wayne Newton. I'm old, but i'm not that old, dammit.

Definitely want to get in at least one highbrow dining experience while we're there. Can't stand Batali, Puck, or Emeril. Pondering a visit to Bouchon, but I'm open for suggestions.

Shopping? Other stuff? Shower me with your collective knowledge, people. :)

Red Rock Canyon is pretty awesome, and a very short drive from the city. Also, the Hoover Dam is worth a visit if you've never seen it, though it's a bit longer trip.

marking this thread because I need similar advice ;)

I'm going with my mom to LA in April to visit my cousin... she had the bright idea of a 2-day stopover in Vegas on our way home. not my ideal Vegas companion, but who am I to say no to a free trip?

For dinner, check out SW Steakhouse at the Wynn. One of my favorites, and I've tried many there.

Since you'll be with your wife, I recommend one of the Cirque shows like Ka. You'll both enjoy it.

Ever been to the outlets in vegas? Pretty good deals. Red Rock Casino and Canyon are good too. The casino also has an arcade, movies, and bowling, but I don't know about their shows. They recently finished the Aria and maybe City Center is done too.

Is it that much better than other high-end steak places? I love steak and all, but I'd rather branch out while away from Atlanta.

Was considering this, but it seemed sort of obvious. Thought I'd see what else there was to be had.

Last time I went I checked out the various casinos (Wynn, Venetian, Ceasar's, Palazzo, etc.) Saw a blue man show (it was like a hundred bucks for middle row seats) and also took a helicopter tour over grand canyon (couple hundred bucks). I went with a few friends so it was a great time. :)

Try Bartolotta at the Wynn. I was there last April and it was pretty good. Not a fan of the octopus, but the rest of the food was top notch.

My first time there I enjoyed walking pretty much the whole new strip checking out each Casino. Freemont street was interesting too.

The best sorta bargain meal we had was at Ra sushi.. they have deals before 5 or 6pm.. its outside the mall that has the big spaceship looking thing. can eat well for a reasonable cost.

Collect the flicking cards, then try handing them back to some of the ladies further down the strip that are trying to give more to you..one lady got pissed at me. double standard if you ask me...

Went with a big group to see Absinthe a couple weeks back and it was great. Crude jokes, acrobatics and a unique seating/stage arrangement. Go find one of those half-ticket booths (think we used the one at O'Sheas which is across the street next to Imperial Palace & Harrahs) and get your tickets there.

It seems like you are pretty much asking for things that are free (plus a show). I definitely recommend a Cirque show. Then spend the rest of the time walking around the high-end casinos and just enjoying them (ie not spending money).

Avoid the buffets. There are many great restaurants in Vegas so I would seek them out rather than strapping on the feedbag at the buffets.

It has been years since I've been to Vegas though so I can't really remember what the best restaurants are.

It's been awhile since I've been there, but if you have a craving for monster sized lobster, check out Rosewood Bar & Grill, across the street from the Mirage.

Edit: Nevermind...it looks like it went out of business in 2010 due to the recession.

For shopping I'd go through the forum shops at Caesar's.

If you want a thrill, do the SkyJump at Stratosphere.

For a show, I'd see Jersey Boys or Love.

my standard answers: if you like Thai food, you have to try Lotus of Siam in E. Sahara Ave and don't miss the Mac King comedy magic show at Harrah's.

If you like the Beatles go see the Cirque du Soleil show Love at the Mirage.

Also take a trip outside of the "strip" and go check out the Pawn Stars shop, the same on that's on the History Channel. I've been there a couple of times and got to meet Rick one time there.

There's a cool Atomic Testing Museum that's work checking out.

If you are into cars and have some extra money, check this out at the Vegas Speedway. I did it last year and it was a blast! Exotics Racing

Also the Valley of Fire is a neat place to drive to and walk around etc...
