Love the Red Rock Canyon.

You're just a $200/person helicopter ride from the Grand Canyon too.

A second for the Mac King Comedy & Magic Act at Harrah's. You should be able to get a ticket to the show from a cocktail waitress in the casino. It's an entry to the show providing you buy a drink while there (~$12). He's a riot. Tuesday -Saturday 1pm and 3pm

Imperial Palace car show - free if you search for a free ticket.

Bellagio Fountains - every 15 or 30 minutes afternoons and evenings - Free

Treasure Island Pirate Show pm free

Avoid the buffets on the strip- They are all overpriced and not that great IMO. If you do want to eat a buffet hop on the Orleans/Gold Coast shuttle bus at Bill's Gambling Hall and head over to The Orleans for a reasonably priced buffet with pretty good food. You could also check out Fat Elvis while at Bill's. The dessert bar at The Orleans is bigger than any of the buffets in my hometown. If you want cheap eats on the strip there is a food court just north of the MGM Grand that has a Del Taco, Wendy's and a few others.

A Cirque show for sure. I highly recommend KA or 'O'. Mystere is geared more towards kids.

If you want to spend a lot of money for a meal you might combine dining at The Top Of The World at the Stratosphere with a sunset view from up high, and then see the whole place lit up at night. Even if you didn't eat there, it's worth a trip to the top of the tower to check out the view. Not free, unless you're staying there, and then it's only free before noon or something like that.

The Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood is pretty cool, as is The Freemont Street experience. Speaking of miles, you'll wear yourself out walking up and down the strip on Vegas, so get yourselves a couple of two day passes on the Deuce, it's a double decker bus that goes up and down the strip, even to downtown.

Hopefully you'll be staying a hotel that has a nice pool complex. That's where I like to hang out. Have fun.

If you don't want to do the jump at the Stratosphere, at least go up to the 108th floor. On a clear night the view is quite impressive

Do a dinner or lunch in that revolving restaurant up there too. Very nice. Food is overpriced and aint that great, but you're not really there for food.

Neither of us really care about gambling. I'm sure I'll spend a little while wasting some money, but this is definitely not a primary concern.

Might try to get out for a round of golf, but the greens fees for Feb are

Will be with my wife, so seeing a show or two would be great. Do not care even slightly for Vegas "standards" like Wayne Newton. I'm old, but i'm not that old, dammit.

Definitely want to get in at least one highbrow dining experience while we're there. Can't stand Batali, Puck, or Emeril. Pondering a visit to Bouchon, but I'm open for suggestions.

Shopping? Other stuff? Shower me with your collective knowledge, people. :)
Lived there for seven years, but that was almost ten years ago so its totally different now...but...

There are a few public golf courses that are nice, and cheap. If it's still there, there is a par 3 course just south of the Luxor and it's nice, cheap, and fun.

The best shows I've seen were Cirque (The original, haven't seen "O" or the others.) and Blue Man Group, by far. I saw a few of the headline magic shows and they were entertaining but nothing I would recommend unless you are really into magic. Comedy is hit and miss, but cheap.

If you are into the outdoors, follow Charleston 12 miles out of town to Red Rock Canyon, it will not disappoint.

There is also indoor skydiving somewhere downtown if you want to try that.

Bottom line, Vegas is a playground. Ask your whatchamacallit at your hotel and they will suggest a ton of things for you to do, and probably give you a booklet full of discount coupons.

EDIT: Do not get tourist syndrome while you are there, I used to get lots of calls for that. Vegas is ~2,400ft in elevation and very low humidity, so don't forget to stay hydrated and not exert yourselves too much.

In NY NY, in the back there is a sit down place for Burgers.

If you are a burger fan, GO THERE. Best burger I've ever had was there, and I have gotten quite a few friends hooked on it.

Also, they have a great selection of beers on tap, including Stone Arrogant Bastard ale (which happens to be one of my favorites)

Speaking as a local resident that lives in Henderson...

For gambling stick to the Station Casinos. - The strip casinos have extremely tight slots in this down economy and the table games have higher minimums.

For a resort/spa experience consider staying at Red Rock or the "M". Both are newer and have really nice rooms and amenities. The strip is overrated, and only a 15-25min drive from better places to stay.

Dining out really comes down to what you like. There are so many options, your best bet is to pick a style, and then look for reviews.

All the shows are good as long as you pick one that you really want to see.

If you are looking for a "What happens in Vegas...." experience, google the Red Rooster or the Green Door. :D

I personally find that about 3 or 4 days in Vegas is more than enough. If your plan is to stick to the strip no car is needed. Actually, I've only needed to rent a car once there when I needed to drive to a friends house and a visit to Hoover Dam. It just easier to walk or taxi around.

If you want to do any site-seeing outside of the city, I do recommend the Helicopter tours of the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. They range from simple half day things to expensive champaigne affairs. In 2006 I took a half day tour that cost $180 per person and that included transportation to and from the hotel. I thought it was very worth it.

I also drove to the Hoover Dam and took the tour. Did the whole, one foot in NV and one foot in AZ thing. If you decide to do this, be there early. We went on a Sunday and got there just after they opened. We had no problem getting there and finding easy parking but when we left a few hours later there were cars lined up for miles heading there.

There are plenty of shows. You should be able to find something to interest you. One of these days, I want to catch the Penn and Teller show while I am there.

If you are into the whole Buffet thing, I can take or leave them, the Bellagio and the Paris hotels are decent but the waits are pretty long.

I'm not a golfer, so I can't help you there, but I do know there is a course behind the Hilton.

Is it that much better than other high-end steak places? I love steak and all, but I'd rather branch out while away from Atlanta.

Was considering this, but it seemed sort of obvious. Thought I'd see what else there was to be had.

I really like the steak there. The view/atmosphere is also very nice, but you have to reserve a seat at the patio.

I proposed to my wife at the Top of the Rock. Excellent place with an amazing view. I do think the food is overpriced. And the service was just terrible.
