So two days ago I noticed that I could finally do an exercise that, for whatever reason, I have never been able to do....

A full situp.

I could of course pound them out with feet against the wall or something helping, but I could never do an actual situp. I've also always played sports, and I've been lifting weights for a couple of years now. I couldn't do a situp as of a few months ago. I've been adjusting my technique for my ab/back workouts the past month or two and I guess it helped!

I've always found it odd that I could never do a full situp. Perhaps it explains why I have an inguinal hernia: a weak "belt" area.

I'm 5'9" ~165 lbs.

I can actually do them at will now. Did about 40 yesterday.

Sweet. I used to be able to do the sit ups on a decline bench which was resting on about 3 stairs, holding onto a 45lb dumbbell.

I don't really focus on ab moves anymore though. I mainly work my core by doing squats and deadlifts.

I do abs, but never crunches / sit ups. I did enough of those in the military to last a lifetime.

Some people just have a harder time training the muscles to do a sit up. I know quite a few people who had trouble doing them in the military. I think it has a lot to do with hip ROM and strength though.

Yeah I'm all hips/hamstrings on my sit ups. Used to do 101 in 2 minutes but can still max my PT test at 82 in 2 minutes.

Sheesh. Pretty good! I have tweaked my squat technique a bit the past month or so, adding in some concentration on hip explosiveness and a bit of a "hump" or core squeeze at the end of a rep instead of just finishing slow and lazy.
