Unfortunately this is an ibuypower build, as this is my first build i assumed this may be the way to go. ( what do you guys think of ibuypower i've heard some mixed reviews ) I've never built a computer, and am a bit nervous about doing so but I could do it if it came down to it ( if ibuypower is cranking up the price too much ) i have a bit of computer experience behind me. My budget is about 1200$, and my expectations are to be able to max crysis ( minus AA of course ) i'd rather just stick with a higher resolution tweaks that anyone can think of? Apologies if I posted in the wrong thread, this is my first time using a forum.

hopefully ill hear from everyone soon!

The processor is extremely dated. Start looking for Z68 + i7 2600k combos.

Personally, for the type of performance you're looking at, I'd build my own. I'll post a config shortly.

Here's my first crack at your $1200 mark given the specs above:

GTX 570 (A step up from your current card)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371044
Antec Green 650 (Likely better than the "750 watt" listed)

i7 2600k + Z68

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106289
LiteOn DVDRW

Grand Total: $1,183.73

Keep in mind this includes an SSD to be paired with the Z68 chipset for SSD caching, contains a better GPU, better CPU, more memory, and likely more solid components all the way around.

It does not have a Liquid cooling system, but for the price here, IMO, you'll get much better performance.

building your computer isnt that hard. its actually pretty easy. just make sure to do your research. and at the end you get the saatisfaction thatyou built it ur self.

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ar/wkM
how about it mvbighead?^ like it?

wow, me and you almost chose all the same things

Mostly good IMO. Personally, I like leveraging any combo deal at Newegg that makes sense. Most of their full system combos usually throw in something that is less than desirable (a crappy PSU, AV software, crappy case, etc.). But at least with the board and CPU combos, you can save a decent amount of coin buying them together.

While that PC parts picker seems to be a good tool, it misses out on those combos.

The other problem I see is that you missed the KB/Mouse/Speakers that were included with the OP's build, as well as selected a lesser processor, and you're just a few bucks under the quote I provided.

So, I guess I like my quote better... but that doesn't mean yours is bad by any means.

haha, im just too lazy to go to newegg and look up the deals. i just like pcpartspicker to help pick out the parts. then i go to newegg and look for combos and deals.

prettymuch, pcpartspicker is my way of finding my overall price.

Looks pretty good, but why the 2600K?

Wow! thanks for all the replies everyone, i really didnt expect that many. 😛 Alright, well my plans sorta changed. I've decided to go ahead and build it myself, i've heard some good reviews/ really bad reviews about ibuypower and decided that i'd rather not take the risk especially with this amount of money. Im going to go ahead and do a real deal build part by part ( I hope all goes well ) so I went down to my local electronics store, and picked out some parts. An employee gave me some tips, but unfortunately it seems like the only way I can go CPU wise is with AMD. If it comes down to it though, i'd definitely consider ordering off of newegg.com. Apologies for doing a totally different build than originally planned, hope it's not too much trouble.

Power supply - thermaltake tr2x 750w (subject to change based off of some reviews that i've read i'll update pretty quickly if it does change)

GPU -EVGA 560 TI crysis 2 edition (I went with this card because it was on sale at my local electronics store for 269$ but this is something i'd understand changing im sure part of that 269 is for the extra stuff they throw in with it

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo

That's pretty much the build in a nutshell, what do you guys think? My expectations are to be able to max crysis 2 (still no AA), BF3 ( i dont think the specs have been released for bf3 ) and run skyrim as well...

Can't wait to hear from you guys! you've been really helpful, apologies again for changing my build entirely but i'm pretty confident that i could do a real deal build

The Phenom II X6 is definitely not the best processor to buy for a gaming rig. If you had to go with AMD, a Phenom II X4 is cheaper and probably faster (at stock). Many games aren't optimized for more than 2 cores, and the exceptions don't make use of more than 4. You also want faster cores, not more slow cores.

Why isn't Intel an option here? The ideal processor to get would be the i5-2500K.

PSU... there are better options. Any Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, or XFX PSUs are solid. Thermaltake just isn't renowned for having quality PSUs.

If your building it yourself, order everything off newegg.com and you will get WAY better performance. Go with Intel, or if you can wait one month and see what AMD Bulldozer has to offer. Just a thought.

Stick... with... Intel. AMD simply isn't worth it at this time. Especially for the money you're looking at spending.

Agree 100%. OP, I don't see why you can't go with Intel considering a 2500K platform can be had for the same price as a 1100T platform.

The main things I would change about your build are:
- RAM: Fancy RAM is not worth the premium. This G.Skill DDR3 1333 kit is $50.
- Mobo/CPU: Obviously, you'll want to go with an Intel board here. This i5 2500K + GA-Z68A-D3H combo would be good.
- PSU: 750W is overkill and Thermal take isn't known for it's quality. Get an HCG 520 instead.
- GPU: Tip: anything with "X Edition" in the name is probably a rip off. A GTX 560 Ti is not worth $240 because you can have a 6950 2GB for $5 more.

Wow! Thanks for the advice, after reading up on the AMD processor (AMD phenom II x6 1100t) I definitely understand that it wouldn't have been the best choice( I dont think i would have caught that on my own! ). Decided to go with everyone's suggestion

(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072) - CPU

I'm still a bit nervous about ordering some things online. I was reading up on the MSI p67A-g43 (b3) and it seemed to have pretty good reviews. Was wondering what everyone thought about this as a mother board choice, is it better or worse than the GA-Z68A-D3H

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo - Link to MSI mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=GA-Z68A-D3H - Link to GA-z68A-d3h

Once again thanks for the everyone! Would have made some mistakes 😛

After reading up on the p67vs p68 i've gathered that the p68 is for if you like over clocking/messing around with the extra features of the mother board, and that the p68 is way better at troubleshooting. I don't really plan on doing much of either ( except trouble shooting if it does come to that but im crossing my fingers it doesnt 😛) Just wondering why do you prefer the p67 chipset over the p68?

Ah, sorry typo..responding on a phone at the moment. Sorry, not trying to seem stuborn. I'm sure that there several other differences between the two but I'm really trying to avoid ordering anything major offline . I'm getting ready to head to my local store (frys) would you be on to respond if i were to find a z68 chipset and post what mobo I'm looking at? If its too much trouble its alright once again thanks for the help

Okay, since I'm on a phone its a bit hard to link to new egg, apologies about that. So my choices at the moment for z 68 are msi z68ma-ed55 s1155 , gb z68ma-d2h-b3 amd the asus p8z68-v s1155 as well as a
Gb ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 s1155 the first two are micro atx, and tje last one is a bit out of budget at 179.99 but if its necessary then ill go for it paring mobo with an I5 2500k as suggested, if there are any other chipsets suggested let me know one last quick notr at thid
