Watched it on Friday thanks to a free tmobile ticket. After fandango fees, ended up paying $0.10 cents and don't think it was worth that since I had to waste my time watching it.

who liked it, who didn't:

This is further bolstered by the fact that CinemaScore crowds under 35 gave Suicide Squad an A- (76%), while 46% females gave it an A-. The pic also earned an A with the under 18 demo (28%). Smith and Robbie fans both gave it the film an A-, each group turning up at 30% each.

But Suicide Squad‘s weaker grades were with the middle-age folks with 25-34 year olds (22%) and 35-49 year olds (17%) giving it a B. That’s who dragged this pic’s CinemaScore down to a B+.

Thanks for that, seems to be the general opinion.

Yours seems pretty unbiased.

Saw it Friday... My thoughts (no spoilers):

Will Smith, Margot Robbie and a few other characters, judging solely on just their performances, were the only good thing about it. Was not a fan of the movie with the exception of a few scenes, including some fight scenes. Thats about as positive as I can get about this film.

Soundtrack was trying to be Guardians of the Galaxy but not executed nearly as well. In the first 10 minutes they went through a ton of hit songs which was distracting. Was like driving with someone who constantly changes the radio without letting the song finish.

The story was weak. From what I've read a lot got cut out of the theatrical release so maybe that was the problem. The plot just jumped around too much. You get all these villains that suddenly care about each other but you never see why they do. They are lumped together in a shitty circumstance. A majority of them are pointless, like the director thought "oh yeah, this bad guy is part of the squad in the comics, better add them somewhere and give them a line or two". Doesn't help pretty much all the squad members are stereotypes. Especially Killer Croc and Diablo. Without spoiling too much, one of the squad members sacrifices themselves towards the end and no one seems to care/remember afterwards.

All the hype for Jared Leto and he was in the movie for what felt like 10 minutes of total screen time and added nothing to the story. And he was not good. Nothing about him was Joker-esque except he is a deranged guy who laughs. His relationship with Harley was also not handled very well in my opinion.

The villain the squad faces is too powerful, and none of the Squad members really possessed any features that would make them more powerful than the soldiers they were fighting with.

It wasn't "the bad guys doing bad things that the heroes wouldn't do". It was bad guys taking down a bad guy. Which sucks because the premise of bad guys fighting bad guys by doing bad things is such a unique opportunity for DC, but they blew it. The actress who played the main villain, Cara Delevigne, gave a horrible performance.

Was very disappointed.

Anyone who watched this movie able to read any of the character stats they put on screen? I could barely read them. I understand that today's ADHD generation get bored easily but if you have words on screen give us enough time to read them. I remember the second Bourne movie the action was quick cut and shaky cam so I could not tell who was who or what was really happening. This is worse because i should be able to read the words on screen.

And, it has Will Smith, because even if he has made some good movies, he's done a lot of incredibly shitty movies you saw because it had Will Smith in it.
So he chose to do his movie instead of ID-Resurgence.... 5.5/10 IMDb 34% RT 32% Metacritic. :D

Saw it. Joker was no Heath Ledger. And I think Will Smith was miscast. I couldn't see the character at all, only Will Smith. It looked like Will Smith was out playing dress up.

It's already been mentioned, but the thing that stood out to me the most was the oversexualized female, not because it adds to the intrigue but just because they wanted some T&A for the young male demographic. Kinda like the disrobing woman in Wrath of Khan version 2.0. It was just stupid and out of place.

And I just imagined Will Smith playing the same role yet again. It was fine Fresh Prince and Bad Boys, and great in Men In Black but it gets old after a while. And I see on his IMDB page there is a Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4 coming. Really?!?
Did you just say oversexualized female? /facepalm Turn in your mancard or try TRT (Test Replacement Therapy). Margot's hot pants were amazing and one of the highlights of the film if you're a man.

I read some but yes, I missed a bunch with how quick it went. I get why they introduced the characters that way, I just wish they picked a better way of doing it.

Yeah that was stupid since Enchant was destroying stuff all around the world. They should have picked something more contained.

why didn't the enchantress try building the machine earlier? before her heart got captured by the gov? and should have taken her brother's avatar jar thing when she first merged with the human.

I was able to. It was really badly done. I got what they were trying to do, but there's better ways to do it. Joys of cutting up most of the intro scenes by the studio according to the article I posted in this thread a while back.

Saw it. Joker was no Heath Ledger. And I think Will Smith was miscast. I couldn't see the character at all, only Will Smith. It looked like Will Smith was out playing dress up.

I have a thing with Ostrander's (the writer of the original series) version of Deadshot that jaded me a bit. I did however feel that while I could see him trying to have a version of a character, it was still mostly Smith still playing Smith. It's a pity as he was supposed to be one of the leads and could have been much better. I really hated the Joker. I maybe one of the few people that thought he should have been cut out more. The stupidity around the promotion of him was amusing though. He wasn't in the movie anywhere near enough compared to the way they promoted it. Goes back to WB not having any faith in it's IP I guess.

I thought it was toned down a lot. It had areas where you could see they prob went much more sexual. To each their own I guess.. some people still see kids when they hear the words "comic books" and judge per it's guidelines.

I had the impression that she didn't know he was there with her. She also may or may not have been in control. It was a really stupid set up. I did however think two things when she got her machine built. 1.) I couldn't understand why they morphed her into a Shakria cosplay compete with hip dancing. 2.) She's awfully polite getting the Wall to tell her where to strike the Government precisely like that. As the end goal was to destroy the world she sure spent time making sure to only take out the Government facilities.

They really should have gone with the Jihad from the first arc of the comics. It was a much more balanced battle in terms of players. Them taking on a power that's supposed to be (according to the movie) Godlike is a bit out of people who shoot things wheelhouse. It become what this movie became.

Pretty much how I felt about it. I thought the Joker was terrible. They basically turned him into just another crime boss that happened to have green hair. I much prefer the Dark Knight version where he was a lone wolf who flew in the face of both the "good guys" AND the organized criminals, which IMO put him into a category of villain of his own and made him seem more dangerous. In this movie he's just one more crime boss.

The laugh was bad too.
