Oh, so the battery won't all the sudden go out on me? All it does it remember the date, time, ect, correct?

I'll go ahead and install my OS then. Thank you SO MUCH for helping me out. I've never built a PC and I probably would never have figured that out.

Thanks again!!

No problem. All the battery does is keep track of the time, date, and CMOS settings.
If it did happen to completely die, you just wouldn't be able to boot up until you got a new one, no big deal.
You wouldn't lose any data or cause any problems, just have to reset date and time. 🙂

Just replace it as soon as you have the time to avoid that.

Ok, so, I've installed XP but I have a couple problems.

1. I had no audio during the setup, and I know that the XP setup has audio. All i could hear was a slight crackling and small beeps. I did install a few things on the CD that came with the mobo so I think the audio drivers are in now.

2. I unplugged my cable modem, then turned off my comp, and plugged the ethernet cord into one of the jacks on the back. I waited about a minute, then turned on the modem and my computer. It still won't connect to the internet and I don't know why. When I was setting up THIS computer im using now, as soon as I connected the ethernet cable it worked. Mine wont and I dont know how to fix this.

3. Most importantly, it still boots into BIOS when i turn it on and asks me to create a RAID driver. I bypass this by pressing escape and it boots into windows. Now, I don't know why it does this. I don't want a RAID array or anything, how can i make it stop doing this?

4. My HDD LED doesn't light up. I think i might have the connectors mixed up.

2. do you need to install drivers?
3. you have to go into the bios and switch the onboard raid controller to sata mode, or something that isnt raid.
4. for the hd led look in the manual, and make sure you plugged it in right. if you turn the plug the wrong way, even if its in the right place, it wont work.

Yeah, it being my first build ever i was dumb enough to forget the drivers. I ended up activating XP over the phone, too. I'll try out the SATA stuff a little later. Thanks!
